Director of NursingPsychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) | Children & AdolescentsPosition SummaryProvides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for all nursing services within an 80-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)Serves children and adolescents with complex behavioral health needsEnsures delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based nursing careMaintains full compliance with all federal, state, Medicaid, and accreditation requirementsOversees nursing operations, staff leadership, regulatory readiness, and quality improvement initiativesDrives interdisciplinary collaboration across the organizationPromotes a culture of safety, clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvementClinical LeadershipProvide oversight of all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and trauma-informed care deliveryDirect and ensure consistent implementation of the nursing process across all unitsEnsure accurate execution of provider orders, including medication administration and monitoringOversee psychotropic medication management, including reconciliation, documentation, and pharmacy complianceEnsure timely completion of required clinical assessments, including AIMS testingOversee medical triage, injury assessment, follow-up care, and clinical escalation as appropriateEnsure proper nursing documentation related to seclusion and restraint eventsConduct routine chart audits to ensure accuracy, quality, and regulatory complianceRegulatory Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, Medicaid, and PRTF regulatory standardsLead infection prevention and control activities, including monitoring, reporting, and corrective actionsPrepare and present pharmacy and therapeutics reports in collaboration with medical and consulting providersServe as CLIA Director, maintaining all required laboratory, medication, and pharmacy certificationsLead and participate in regulatory surveys, audits, and corrective action planningMonitor trends related to incidents, medication errors, injuries, and restraintsImplement process improvements and risk mitigation strategiesNursing Operations and Workforce ManagementRecruit, hire, onboard, supervise, and evaluate nursing staffProvide ongoing leadership, supervision, coaching, and annual performance evaluationsDevelop and manage nursing schedules to ensure appropriate 24/7 staffing coverageMonitor payroll, overtime utilization, and overall staffing costsManage nursing budgets and medical supply expendituresCoordinate clinical placements and supervision for nursing studentsParticipate in the on-call rotation and provide executive-level nursing support as requiredInterdisciplinary CollaborationServe as the primary liaison between nursing and clinical, residential, education, and administrative teamsActively participate in treatment team meetings, leadership meetings, and medical committeesCollaborate across organizational programs to align nursing practices with system-wide standards, goals, and outcomesQuality Improvement and EducationLead nursing-related quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational prioritiesMonitor nursing performance indicators and contribute to measurable organizational outcomesDevelop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans as neededProvide training, education, and clinical guidance to nursing and interdisciplinary staffPromote continuing education, licensure compliance, and professional development for nursing teamsServe as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical leadership and trauma-informed practiceQualificationsActive, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of MississippiBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferredCurrent CPR/BLS certification (PALS preferred)Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive nursing experienceAt least 3 years of experience in pediatric, behavioral health, psychiatric, or residential treatment settingsMinimum of 3 years of nursing leadership or supervisory experienceExperience managing multi-shift nursing teams in a 24/7 healthcare environment preferred
