Job Overview ODS Transportation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Routing Specialist to join our team. The Routing Specialist will be responsible for creating and optimizing bus routes for school drivers, ensuring efficient and safe transportation for students. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in route planning software Transfinder, and a deep understanding of safety regulations and student needs. Key Responsibilities 1. **Route Development:** - Design, plan, and implement efficient bus routes for school transportation, considering factors such as student locations, school schedules, and traffic patterns. - Utilize routing software and GPS technology to optimize routes for time and fuel efficiency. 2. **Data Analysis:** - Analyze data related to student ridership, route efficiency, and transportation trends to inform route planning decisions. - Adjust routes based on changes in student enrollment, new school openings, or other logistical considerations. 3. **Collaboration:** - Work closely with school administrators, bus drivers, and transportation management to assess transportation needs and address concerns. - Facilitate communication between all stakeholders regarding route changes, schedules, and safety protocols. 4. **Safety Compliance:** - Ensure that all routes comply with state and federal regulations regarding school transportation and student safety. - Stay updated on best practices in transportation safety and implement necessary changes to routes and procedures. 5. **Documentation and Reporting:** - Maintain accurate records of route plans, adjustments, and student ridership data. - Prepare reports and presentations on route efficiency and transportation operations as needed. 6. **Training and Support:** - Provide training and support to bus drivers on new routes and any changes to procedures. - Act as a resource for drivers, addressing questions or concerns about route navigation and student management. Qualifications - knowledge of transportation, logistics, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience. - Proven experience in route planning, logistics, or transportation management. - Proficiency in route optimization software and GPS tools. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Familiarity with school transportation regulations and safety protocols. **Preferred Skills:** - Experience in a school transportation environment. - Knowledge of local road networks and community demographics.
