Lead Plant Operator (Fulton)
AD Energy Recruitment is partnering with a growing organisation in the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and anaerobic digestion sector to appoint a Lead Plant Operator for a large-scale biogas facility based in Fulton, Michigan.This is a hands-on operational leadership role responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable day-to-day running of the plant across feedstock receiving, anaerobic digestion, RNG production, digestate handling, and wastewater management.The Lead Operator will play a key role in overseeing plant performance, supporting Operators and Technicians onsite, troubleshooting operational issues, and helping maintain strong safety and compliance standards within a 24/7 process environment.Key Responsibilities:Support daily plant operations and monitor facility performance across all process areasUtilize SCADA and HMI systems to oversee and optimize plant operationsAssist in maintaining stable and efficient RNG and biogas productionTroubleshoot operational and equipment issues and support corrective actionsCoordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Reliability teamsSupport and mentor Operators and Technicians on shiftEnsure safe work practices, SOP adherence, and compliance with site proceduresAssist with training activities and operational auditsMonitor equipment condition and report performance or reliability concernsSupport preventative maintenance activities and plant shutdown/start-up proceduresRespond to operational alarms, process upsets, and onsite issues as requiredMaintain accurate operational records and shift reporting documentationAssist in maintaining plant cleanliness, housekeeping, and overall site standardsSupport coverage for operational schedules when requiredTravel occasionally to support additional facilities or operational activitiesRequirements:Experience working within anaerobic digestion, RNG, biogas, wastewater, landfill gas, or industrial process plant environmentsPrevious experience in a Lead Operator, Senior Operator, or similar hands-on operations roleStrong understanding of industrial plant operations and process systemsExperience using SCADA and HMI systems within a processing environmentAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and operational documentationStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsSafety-focused mindset with the ability to work within a 24/7 operational environmentAbility to lead by example and support shift teams onsiteComfortable working in physically demanding industrial environments and varying weather conditionsValid driver's license requiredWhat's on Offer:Competitive compensation packageAnnual bonus opportunityRelocation assistance availableMedical and dental coverage401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysOpportunity to join a fast-growing RNG and renewable energy sectorLong-term career growth within a collaborative and hands-on operational environment
