Pediatric Physiatrist
Overview
Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a Board‑eligible/Board‑certified Pediatric Physiatrist to join our active, comprehensive, hospital‑based, university‑affiliated pediatric rehabilitation team. The role requires excellent clinical skills, strong organizational and team skills, and a desire to teach.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric physical rehabilitation conditions, including limb deficiency, neuromuscular disease, surgical neuromonitoring, EMG, brachial plexus injury, stroke, torticollis, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, spasticity/ITB, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, and wheelchair/seating needs.
Provide inpatient and outpatient care across multiple sites, including consultation, day program, and telemedicine services.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (physiatrists, fellows, nurse practitioners, rehabilitation psychologist, social workers, nurses, therapists) to deliver seamless care.
Teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the ACGME‑approved fellowship training program and contribute to didactic sessions.
Participate in research, quality improvement, and clinical collaborations, including the adaptive sports program.
Qualifications
Board‑eligible or board‑certified in Pediatric Physiatry (BE/BC).
Medical degree from an accredited institution.
Successful completion of a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Strong clinical experience in pediatric rehabilitation preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
Employment Requirements
Seasonal influenza vaccine required for all employees.
Non‑immune individuals must have vaccination records for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chickenpox (varicella), or tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) since 2005.
Vaccination records or appropriate exemptions may be discussed with Human Resources.
