UAV Pilot (FAA Part 107 Certified)

Job Description Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and safety-focused UAV Pilot to conduct aerial surveillance and drone operations in support of security and counter-crime initiatives. This role requires a highly disciplined professional with strong situational awareness, technical drone expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate will hold a valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and possess strong technical skills, have experience in flying, security, law enforcement, military operations, or related fields operational. This role requires strict adherence to FAA regulations, safety procedures, and company operational standards.FAA Part 107 certification is required for commercial drone operations in the United States.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs/drones) safely and professionally during assigned missionsConduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections and checklistsEnsure compliance with all FAA Part 107 regulations and company policiesPlan flight paths, airspace coordination, and mission objectivesCapture high-quality aerial video, photography, thermal imaging, or mapping data as requiredMonitor weather, airspace restrictions, and environmental conditions before operationsMaintain accurate flight logs, maintenance records, and incident reportsCoordinate with operations personnel, security teams, clients, and managementTroubleshoot UAV systems, payload equipment, and software issuesMaintain visual line of sight and operational safety during all flightsAssist with UAV equipment maintenance and inventory managementRequired QualificationsValid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate requiredHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum 1–2 years of UAV/drone flight experience preferredThermal imaging, night time low light operationsExperience operating DJI and Autel UAV platformsKnowledge of FAA airspace regulations and drone safety proceduresStrong situational awareness and decision-making skillsAbility to work independently and in team environmentsExcellent communication and report-writing abilitiesMust be able to pass background screeningValid driver's license with clean driving recordPreferred QualificationsExperience in security, law enforcement, military, construction, inspections, or public safety operationsExperience with night operations and advanced flight missionsPrior experience conducting surveillance or tactical drone operationsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to lift and carry UAV equipment up to 50 lbsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsVisual acuity sufficient for safe drone operationsWork EnvironmentOutdoor and field-based operationsMay require travel to various job sitesSchedule including evenings, weekends, and emergency response operations when necessaryCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experienceOpportunities for overtime and specialized assignmentsTraining and professional development opportunitiesCompany-provided UAV equipment Veterans and former public safety professionals are highly encouraged to apply.Company DescriptionCovered 6 is a group of highly experienced trainers and consultants with backgrounds in law enforcement, military, legal community and corporate security.
