The Instrument and Electrical Technician (I&E Tech) will be responsible for maintenance of instruments and electrical systems in the Allyn’s Point manufacturing plant. This position offers candidates the opportunity to become a team member on a close knit team working in a fast paced challenging work environment.Primary ResponsibilitiesResponsible for working as an electrically skilled person as defined in the Electrical Work Practices. Longer term as this person gains experience he/she will be expected to perform the role of facility representative as defined in the electrical work practicesTroubleshoots and diagnoses instrument and electrical problems and selects and implements corrective actions. Removes and replaces components at the board level. Identifies DCS and PLC hardware problems and replaces cards. Troubleshoots and programs PLC software. Calibrates process instruments according to applicable standardsOperates and maintains instrument and electrical testing equipment. Maintains electrical hardware typically up to 480 voltsPlans, prioritizes, and schedules instrument and electrical maintenance with supervision and technician input. Designs and implements corrective actions identified in incident reports and work ordersMaintains and completes instrument and electrical system preventative maintenance activities. Identifies and defines required procedures and inspection frequencyGenerates and evaluates reliability data from the maintenance database (EMTS). Determines areas of focus for reliability/cost reduction projects. Requests/performs failure analysis as neededDesigns instruments loops and electrical systems. Specifies, requisitions and installs instruments and electrical components (measurements of flow, temperature, pressure)Serves as electrical subject matter expert on capital project reviewsThis job includes working outdoors in inclement weather (sometimes for an extended period)This job requires climbing stairsThis job may require lifting up to 50 lbsFollows and ensure compliance of all plant safety and maintenance proceduresOther duties as assigned by the Plant LeaderJob RequirementsHigh school diploma is requiredTwo years of experience as an instrument technician in a manufacturing environmentTwo years of experience as an electrical technician in a manufacturing environmentPreferred - two-year craft degree and electrical licenseKey CompetenciesInitiative: Active member of a small team operating the plant around the clock. Works on the right thingsOther InformationThis position is part of the Allyn’s Point manufacturing organization and is located at the Allyn’s Point polystyrene plant in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. Starting salary range is $60,000 - $70,000 annually.
