Shop Technician

Job Description Ape-X Garage is a modern DIY automotive facility offering professional-grade lifts, tools, and a clean, safety-focused space where drivers can confidently work on their own vehicles. Our sim racing lounge adds a competitive, community-driven atmosphere that brings enthusiasts together beyond the bays.We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused Shop Technician to oversee bay operations, enforce safety standards, and support customers throughout their projects.The Shop Technician is focused on supervision, safety, training, and operational excellence. Your expertise will ensure customers operate safely, equipment is used properly, and the facility remains organized, compliant, and professional at all times. You will be the authority in the shop.Responsibilities* Administer required safety orientations and classes* Perform diagnostics on a wide range of customer vehicles* Operate and supervise the use of 2-post lifts* Monitor customers during bay use and intervene when necessary* Provide verbal guidance and technical direction as needed* Verify proper use of specialty tools and shop equipment* Check tools in and out of the tool room* Inspect bays before and after each customer use* Ensure shop cleanliness and organization standards are maintained* Conduct routine inventory of tools and equipment* Identify damaged or missing equipment* Ensure proper disposal of oil, fluids, batteries, and hazardous materials* Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations* Report incidents and document safety concerns* Support event setup and special shop activities* Assist in maintaining equipment (compressors, lifts, fans, etc.)* Enforce shop rules and member conduct policies* Coordinate with front desk on scheduling and operational flowRequirements* Prior professional automotive technician experience required* Knowledge of automotive diagnostics software and electrical troubleshooting techniques* Strong knowledge of lift operation and shop safety procedures* Confident and assertive communicator* Able to enforce policies respectfully but firmly* Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills* Familiarity with OSHA safety practices preferred* Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for extended periods* Certifications (ASE or equivalent) are a plus but not requiredIdeal CandidateYou are:* Safety-first in mindset* Calm but authoritative* Mechanically sharp* Detail-oriented* Comfortable correcting customers professionally* Prideful about keeping a shop clean and organized* Motivated to grow with a new and expanding companyWhat We Offer* Leadership role in a growing company* A tight-knit team where your work is valued and your voice matters* Unique automotive work environment* Community and people-focused culture* Opportunity to grow with and influence the growth of a new and expanding company* Competitive hourly pay* Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance* 401k plans* Profit sharing* 50% discount on bay rentals, sim-racing sessions and merchandiseCompany DescriptionApe-X Garage is a modern DIY automotive facility offering professional-grade lifts, tools, and a clean, safety-focused space where drivers can confidently work on their own vehicles.
