For more information, visit www.iconaircraft.com. Mission of Role: To perform stress analysis on primary composite and metallic structures using hand calculations and FEA. Location: Vacaville, CAReports to: VP, EngineeringPrimary Areas of Responsibilities: Perform stress analysis on primary composite structures and metallic components using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEMAP, Nastran, linear and non-linear FEM creation and validation)Support production and field support efforts. Assess damage and issues, define and substantiate repairs Verify preliminary analyses of design engineersSuggest design changes to meet functional, strength, and weight requirementsWrite stress reports, structural test plans and test results. Support compliance testingExtract geometry from Creo (Pro/E) CAD modelsRequired Experience & Education:B.S. in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering3+ years of directly applicable aircraft or similar weight critical structures, performing hand calculation stress analysis (per approved stress methods: Bruhn, Niu, etc.) and FE analysis (FEMAP/Nastran, Linear/Non-Linear analysis) on composite and metallic structures (primary and secondary) 2+ years using any high-level CAD system but Creo (Pro/E) is preferredStrong structural intuition for light aircraftExtremely detail oriented and weight sensitivePractical – good Design for Manufacturing awarenessStrong communication skills and highly collaborative Ideal Experience:Experience with composite material qualification or testingComposite part design, layup mold design and/or bonding fixture designExperience with metrology, interpretation and /or operationEvaluation of technical options against schedule and budgetary constraintsAerospace product and industry experience/knowledge.
