Open Source Developer
Company Description:
OpenRoot offers a developer program that rewards individuals for open-source projects they are already building, with no participation fees. The initiative is designed to support emerging and experienced developers by recognizing and amplifying their contributions to the open-source ecosystem. Participants gain access to a community of peers, potential collaborators, and free visibility for their work. Interested developers can apply through the submission form available on OpenRoot’s website. This is an opportunity to join our limited spots developer program, not a full time paid role.
Role Description:
- Open-Source Contributor — Openroot Developer Program
- Building something useful for others?
- OpenRoot supports developers creating open-source software that solves a real problem, improves access to a useful tool or helps people do something worthwhile. New ideas, early projects and established repositories are welcome for review.
Community support and free project visibility are separate from funded rewards. Admissible member projects can receive community support and be considered for free promotion on our socials and in the newsletter, including repeat showcases and deeper stories. Placement, timing and reach are not guaranteed.
We manually assess a project's intended usefulness when reviewing its application, whether it is a new idea or an existing project. Approved projects can work toward rewards under agreed milestone and funding terms. Later claim reviews verify those milestones; they do not add a new subjective usefulness test. A small specialist tool can qualify, and projects do not need mass-market appeal, a working product or existing users when applying.
Projects primarily providing or generating pornographic content or sexual services, and projects built for illegal activity, fraud or abuse, are not eligible for the program or its promotion. Legitimate sexual-health projects are welcome for review under the same usefulness and safety criteria as other projects.
