We partner with payers and providers to deliver doula care at scale by embedding AI directly into care coordination, billing, and insurance workflows.The RoleAs an AI Engineer, you will be one of the core engineers building Raya Health’s platform from the ground up, alongside a small, highly collaborative engineering team. You’ll help design and ship production healthcare systems that use AI as a first-class primitive, automating complex workflows, integrating with healthcare infrastructure, and supporting real-world operational scale. You’ll work closely with the CEO and engineering teammates to translate healthcare and operational complexity into scalable, reliable software. This is a hands-on role for engineers who want deep ownership, technical influence, and real production impact.What You’ll Build:AI-Native Automation SystemsAI-powered workflows for clinical documentation, billing, insurance operations, and patient communicationGuardrails, validation, and quality checks for AI-generated outputsHuman-in-the-loop and fallback mechanisms for regulated workflowsCore Platform InfrastructurePatient–provider matching systems optimized for preferences, language, availability, location, and care needsCare coordination tools designed specifically for doula workflowsIntegration layers connecting EHRs, insurance platforms, clearinghouses, and payment processorsRevenue Cycle & OperationsEnd-to-end billing workflows, including claim submission, tracking, and reconciliation across payersInsurance eligibility verification and authorization workflowsRevenue monitoring, exception handling, and operational reportingExperience with:OpenAI models: GPT-5.4, GPT-5-mini, GPT-5-nanoAnthropic models: Claude 4.6 Opus, Claude 4.6 Sonnet, Claude 4.5 HaikuFine-tuning, instruction-tuning, or domain adaptation for healthcare or operational use casesYou should be comfortable with:Prompt architecture, agent workflows, and model evaluationReducing hallucination risk in regulated environmentsMonitoring, logging, and improving AI systems over timeMaking tradeoffs between fine-tuning, prompting, and orchestrationStrong plus:Building custom GPTs, agents, or internal AI toolsDeploying AI in HIPAA-regulated environmentsWorking with structured clinical data (FHIR, claims, forms)Responsibilities:Engineering & CollaborationContribute to architecture and system design alongside the founding teamBuild secure, production-ready systems handling sensitive healthcare dataHelp establish engineering best practices, testing, and deployment workflowsCollaborate closely with other engineers to ship reliably and iterate quicklyHealthcare Systems IntegrationBuild and maintain integrations with EHRs, clearinghouses, insurance verification services, and payment processorsWork with healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7)Ensure HIPAA compliance across systems (encryption, access control, audit logging)Product ExecutionTranslate healthcare workflows into scalable technical systemsShip features based on real operational feedbackBalance speed with reliability in a regulated environmentWho You Are3–5+ years of experience as a full-stack, platform, or infrastructure engineerExperience building and maintaining production systemsComfortable in early-stage environments with ambiguity and ownershipStrong collaborator with product intuitionExcited by AI-native systems and healthcare infrastructureRequirements:GitHub profile or links to relevant repositories encouragedPortfolio, side projects, or shipped products encouragedExperience deploying systems beyond prototypesCompensationSalary: $120,000 – $175,000 base + quarterly bonusesEquity: 0.5% – 2.0%
