Location: Livermore, CA Pay Range: $85,000 - $120,000 annual salary Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt Position Overview Join the Modus Advanced engineering team as a Manufacturing Engineer and drive process development and optimization for advanced manufacturing operations that support life-saving medical devices, critical defense systems, and aerospace technologies. In this role, you’ll develop manufacturing processes, solve production challenges, and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver precision components where failure is not an option. Key Responsibilities Process Development and Optimization Develop and implement manufacturing processes for precision components and assemblies Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce lead times, and optimize costs Create detailed process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DfM) reviews with customers and internal teams Implement statistical process control and data-driven manufacturing solutions Assist in validating new manufacturing methods for emerging technologies and materials Technical Problem Solving Lead troubleshooting efforts for manufacturing process issues Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality and production challenges Support failure analysis investigations Design and execute process validation studies Collaborate with Quality team to establish inspection criteria and measurement protocols Customer Collaboration Support customer engineering teams with DfM feedback and manufacturing feasibility assessments Provide engineering support for prototype development through production scaling Participate in technical discussions regarding manufacturability, material selection, and process capabilities Conduct feasibility studies for new product introductions Technology and Equipment Support Support evaluation and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and equipment Assist with capital equipment installation and qualification projects Develop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids Support R&D initiatives and new process development projects Required Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering Experience in precision manufacturing environments (aerospace, defense, medical devices preferred) Experience with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, form-in-place dispensing, waterjet cutting, or similar Technical Expertise Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) Understanding of statistical process control, Six Sigma methodologies, and lean manufacturing principles Experience with quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001) preferred Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing materials Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems Personal Attributes Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Results-oriented mindset with commitment to continuous improvement Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in team environments Attention to detail and commitment to precision in critical applications Ethical behavior and commitment to excellence Physical Requirements Ability to work in manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels Ability to stand for extended periods on the manufacturing floor Visual acuity to inspect components and review technical documentation Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when handling materials What We Offer Comprehensive Benefits Package Competitive salary ($85K-$120K) Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with company matching Paid time off and holiday pay Professional development opportunities Tuition reimbursement program Growth Opportunities Clear advancement path to Senior Manufacturing Engineer Cross-functional exposure to all aspects of advanced manufacturing Customer interaction and technical leadership opportunities Access to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and equipment Mentorship from senior engineering leadership Work Environment State-of-the-art manufacturing facilities with advanced CNC equipment, precision measurement tools, and automated systems Collaborative engineering environment with direct access to manufacturing floor Opportunity to work on mission-critical projects for leading aerospace, defense, and medical device companies Strong safety culture with comprehensive training and support programs Climate-controlled facilities with modern engineering workspaces Our Commitment to Excellence At Modus Advanced, engineering excellence is at the heart of everything we do.
