Title : Distribution DesignerLocation : Charlotte, NCHire Type : Contract to hireCompensation :Benefits : As a contract employee of Sterling, you are eligible to receive a Full Employee Benefits Package that includes paid time off, paid holidays, 3 medical plans to choose from, dental & vision plans, 401(k), and an Employee Stock Ownership (ESOP) plan.Responsibilities Produce computer-aided electrical distribution design drawings and Bills of Material (BOM) required for the construction of complex projects with minimal oversightPerform accurate and efficient field data collection using standard tools, methods, and processes, including project-specific inspectionsApply technical calculations such as cable pulling, voltage drop, transformer loading, and pole loading analysisDevelop an understanding of client construction standards, workflows, and customer charging guidelinesPrepare permitting and project-support documentation as requiredCommunicate effectively with clients and lead site meetings with minimal supervisionDemonstrate the ability to pursue and secure work from clientsIdentify hazards within the electrical distribution system and take appropriate action to prevent unsafe conditions in both office and field environmentsActively promote safety awareness and look out for the safety of othersAttend and actively participate in safety meetings and comply with driving and site hazard identification, mitigation, and reporting requirementsSupport storm response efforts as a local or traveling team member, serving as an Assessor or Team Lead when neededEducation Four-year ABET-accredited Engineering degreeFour (4) years of relevant experience, with a minimum of two (2) years in electrical distribution designSuccessful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam may be credited as six months of relevant experienceAn active Professional Engineer (PE) license may substitute for two (2) years of relevant work experienceQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
