Our Human Resources Team at the Greenville County School District is dedicated to advancing student achievement by recruiting and employing the highest qualified staff for our schools and to serve those with whom we work.School-Based Mental Health Counselor Job DescriptionPosition: School-Based Mental Health Counselor (Student Support Counselor)Length of Service: 190 Working Day EmployeeSalary Range: Current Salary: Clinical Exempt 190 day scale (52,026 -72,048)Reporting: Position reports to RBHS Clinical DirectorQualifications• Credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Independent Social Worker, Clinical Practice (LISW-CP) Required. If credentialed in another state, the requirements are to hold an appropriate licensure and graduate degree (48-hour program) to apply for and receive Licensed Professional Counselor Credentials in SC.• Minimum of three years' experience working with students in a school setting.Duties and Responsibilities:• Provide direct mental health services to include intake assessment, individual, risk assessments, and crisis intervention to assigned students in their assigned school or school(s).• Provide direct and indirect services on-site at the school. Help clientele define goals, and develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.• Coordinates a comprehensive continuum of mental health services and wellness program implementation for designated school location• Maintain regular contact with the parents and/or guardians of each student. Refers students to psychologists and other services as appropriate.• Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, and dealing with mental health and wellness issues.• Complete diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, and, treatment plan updates, Medicaid and managed care authorizations• Attend Large Ontrack Meetings and Monthly Faculty Meetings• Communicate with special education and regular education staff members at assigned schools to provide guidance, mentoring, information, and changes to policy procedures regarding Mental Health Services.• Work with school counselors, classroom teachers, and principals to schedule mental health sessions to minimize the instructional impact on the student• Serve on the Crisis Care team as needed• Meet the minimum weekly quota of 20 hours of Medicaid Billing & 5 hours of Non Medicaid Billing• Track hours and other required information pertinent to Medicaid Billing• Provide complete and timely documentation of support services rendered regardless of Medicaid eligibility• Assist in the development and oversight of a comprehensive district mental health and wellness program• Provide support to staff as needed
