Work Schedule: M-F in a manufacturing environment
Position Summary
We are seeking a well-rounded Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead process development and production readiness across a growing manufacturing operation, with an initial focus on standing up fabrication capabilities (laser, forming, welding) and integrating them into downstream assembly.
This role is designed to evolve into functional manufacturing engineering leadership across the factory, with a clear path toward Focus Factory or Operations Management with career progression.
Build, integrate, and scale manufacturing processes across fabrication and assembly while establishing the foundation for a high-performing, multi-process operation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stand Up & Integrate Fabrication (Initial Focus)
Lead launch of expanded fabrication operations
Ensure seamless integration into assembly workflows
Establish end-to-end process flow and material movement
2. Own Manufacturing Engineering Across the Floor Functionally
Ensure consistent standards and best practices across factory
Develop and standardize processes across:
Fabrication
Mechanical and electrical equipment assembly
Facilities mechanical, electrical, and plumbing build out processes
Drive routing/BOM accuracy, labor standards, and capacity planning
3. Drive Throughput & Flow
Identify and eliminate bottlenecks (Factory Physics mindset)
Improve:
Cost of poor quality (rework focus)
Lead times
WIP levels
On-time delivery
Implement and support practical lean systems (not just theory)
4. Quality & Process Control
Implement scalable quality systems (APQP mindset):
Interface on DFMEA creation to drive process development
PFMEA and control plans on new projects
Standard work
Drive root cause problem solving and corrective actions with teams
5. Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Work cross-functionally with engineering and customers
Provide functional leadership to MEs, Technicians, and Value Stream teams
Help build and scale the Manufacturing Engineering function
Establish accountability and performance expectations – strategic alignment and tactical execution
This is not intended to be an individual contributor role long term. Transition with performance and progression into:
Manufacturing Engineering Manager, or
Focus Factory/Operations Manager or Project Management (PMO)
Own performance metrics with Value Stream team:
Throughput
Quality
Labor productivity
Delivery
Required Experience
Must Have
8–15+ years in manufacturing engineering or operations
Supervisory or management experience preferred
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience across multiple process types, including:
Fabrication - laser, forming, welding (TIG, laser)
Assembly (mechanical required, electrical ideal)
Experience in production environments, not just engineering (aerospace, med device, custom equipment preferred). Experience in ISO/AS/ITAR environments preferred.
Demonstrated Capability In
Launching or scaling manufacturing processes
Driving measurable improvements in: Productivity, Quality, Throughput
Technical
Strong understanding of:
Process design and flow (PFMEA, control plans, validation)
BOM/routing management (shop floor to engineering to supply chain)
GD&T and tolerancing
Fixture/tooling concepts
CAD capability (SolidEdge or similar)
ERP/MES systems (GSS ideal)
Preferred
Fabrication environments (cutting, bending, welding, finishing)
Experience working with vendors in supply chain ideal
Assembly cells / production lines
Lean / Six Sigma training (applied, not theoretical)
