X-Ray Technologist

Job Summary: The Radiology / Cardiology X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures across multiple body systems including abdomen, chest, head, extremities, spine, and pelvis. This role requires proficiency with specialized equipment such as O-ARM and C-Arm, and experience in various clinical settings including Adult Acute Care, ER, ICU, NICU, Operating Room, and outpatient environments. The technician will work primarily first shift with on-call, weekend, and holiday responsibilities, ensuring high-quality imaging services that support patient diagnosis and care.Responsibilities: Perform a wide range of X-ray imaging procedures including abdomen (decubitus, supine, upright), chest (AP, lateral decubitus, routine, upper airway), head (facial bones, orbits, sinuses, skull, TMJ), lower and upper extremities, spine, pelvis, and mobile/surgical imaging. Operate specialized radiology equipment such as O-ARM and C-Arm for diagnostic and surgical imaging. Provide imaging services in diverse clinical settings including Adult Acute Care, ER, ICU, NICU, Operating Room, and outpatient facilities. Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation, preferably using Cerner electronic charting systems. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and infection control standards to protect patients and staff. Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure quality imaging and patient care. Participate in on-call rotations, weekend, and holiday shifts as required. Complete required compliance and fingerprinting processes within specified timelines. Required Skills & Certifications: Active ARRT certification. Current BLS certification. Valid Illinois state radiologic technologist license. Minimum of 1 year of X-ray technologist experience. Proficiency in required X-ray procedures across multiple body systems. Experience with O-ARM and C-Arm imaging equipment. Ability to work in Adult Acute Care, ER, ICU, NICU, Operating Room, and outpatient settings. Must be physically present in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance deadlines for fingerprinting and credentialing. Preferred Skills & Certifications: Experience with Cerner electronic health record/charting system. Level I Trauma center experience. Operating Room imaging experience. Special Considerations: On-call duties are required as needed. Work every third weekend and holidays as scheduled. Must comply with fingerprinting and credentialing deadlines to maintain employment eligibility. Parking permit required but provided at no cost. Uniform scrub color: any solid color. Facility is a Level I Trauma Magnet hospital with 562 staffed beds. Guaranteed hours subject to cancellation policy allowing up to 36 hours off per thirteen-week assignment without pay. Scheduling: First shift/day shift schedule: five 8-hour shifts, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Work every third weekend and assigned holidays. Schedule requests and block scheduling to be discussed with manager. On-call shifts assigned as needed.
