We offer an exciting start-up environment at the interface of R&D, machine learning-aided product design, manufacturing, and rapid market implementation.Job Role – Who We WantThintronics is looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic research associate to join our R&D Analytical team. This role focuses on physical characterization of samples, including thermal, mechanical, adhesive, and dielectric property measurements. In this position, you will help deepen our understanding of the core Thintronics technology and develop our product pipeline.As part of a start-up team, you will wear many hats. We are looking for someone with a “can-do” attitude, who is excited about the opportunity to explore/develop a broad range of practical skills and loves hands-on work in the lab (≥ 80% of time). Roles and responsibilities are collaborative both within the Analytical Team and cross-functionally across the company. Specific duties may evolve based on the needs of our quickly growing company as well as your skillset/interests.Minimum Qualifications:B.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplinePrevious laboratory experience (e.g., internship)Must be able to move up to 25 poundsPreferred Qualifications:M.S. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline1–5 years of relevant industry/start-up experienceExperience with polymer/composite formulation and/or thin film fabricationExperience operating or maintaining analytical instruments including TGA, DMA, TMA, DSC, rheometer, FTIR, SEM, laser confocal microscope (Keyence), universal testing systems, peel testers, split post dielectric resonatorRigorous attention to detail with experimental design, execution, and recordkeepingInterest in developing new test methodsStrong analytical, organizational, teamwork, and time management skillsWritten and verbal ability to convey technical informationBasic ability to code (e.g., Python) and ability to analyze large data setsAbility to juggle multiple tasks efficiently and connect to the bigger picturePreference will go to local candidatesLevel of research associate will depend on overall qualifications, years of experience, and technical assessment during interview process.Compensation/BenefitsCompetitive Bay Area salary100% employee coverage for Health/Vision/Dental InsuranceUnlimited PTO policy + Company HolidaysEquity/Stock OptionsThintronics is an equal opportunity employer.
