Infectious Disease Physician (MD/DO)Position SummaryThe Infectious Disease Physician provides expert evaluation, diagnosis, and management of infectious diseases in inpatient and outpatient settings. This role includes the treatment of complex and emerging infections, guidance on antimicrobial therapy, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support high-quality, evidence-based patient care and infection prevention efforts. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage patients with acute and chronic infectious diseasesDiagnose and treat bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infectionsProvide inpatient consultation services and outpatient clinic careGuide appropriate antimicrobial selection, dosing, and durationParticipate in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention initiativesCollaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, surgeons, pharmacists, and microbiology teamsInterpret diagnostic studies including laboratory testing, cultures, and imagingParticipate in infection control activities, outbreak response, and policy development as applicableEducate patients, families, and healthcare staff regarding infectious diseases and treatment plansMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentationParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiativesSupervise and educate advanced practice providers, residents, or fellows as applicableComply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standardsQualificationsDoctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited internal medicine or pediatrics residency programCompletion of an accredited infectious disease fellowship programBoard-eligible or board-certified in Infectious DiseaseAbility to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensureDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and CompetenciesExpertise in diagnosis and management of complex infectious diseasesStrong clinical judgment and analytical decision-making skillsExcellent communication and consultation skillsAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary teamsCommitment to evidence-based practice and patient safetyWork EnvironmentInpatient hospital settings and outpatient infectious disease clinicsCall coverage as determined by practice or service needsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environmentsManual dexterity for examinations and office-based proceduresVisual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and data interpretation
