SummaryLicensed, Board-certified and credentialed physician, practicing in the specialty of Radiology, interpreting diagnostic imaging tests that involve the use of x-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET CT, or mammography equipment and performing interventional radiology procedures, all within the scope of practice for Radiology, as defined by the Hospital's Medical Staff and physician's clinical privileges approved by the Board of Directors.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSystematically assesses patients' health status through the use of diagnostic imaging technology, arrives at appropriate diagnosis(es), and recommends care plan for effective clinical outcomesExamines and interprets images obtained by diagnostic imaging staff, including but not limited to X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, Dexa, MRI and MammographyProvides a written summary of findings and impressions of abnormalities or diagnoses from examination of images and submits a formal report to ordering physicians and patientsEvaluates patient medical histories in accordance with departmental policies, to ensure the safety and efficacy of ordered tests. Recommends alternatives to the ordering physician as indicated.Based on test findings, recommends and discusses options for further diagnostic workup and/or treatment options with other physiciansWork with Diagnostic Imaging leadership to ensure/maintain the quality of diagnostic imaging tests performedExamine patients, record relevant medical histories, and provide interventional radiology procedures, within physician's scope of the practice as defined by the Hospital's credentialing and privileging processes.May prescribe medication as appropriateDocuments within the electronic medical record system, according to established guidelines to facilitate ongoing quality of care in a timely mannerDelegates direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate qualified personnelResponds appropriately to emergent situationsTakes actions to ensure continuity of care for patientsContributes to effective and efficient policies and practices for physicians practicing within the diagnostic imaging department that support patient access and quality of medical careParticipates in access/planning physician coverage of the diagnostic imaging department, ensuring timely and appropriate patient access defined by accreditation requirements and/or department review of outstanding orders waiting to be scheduledActively participates in clinical quality improvement initiativesMeets the agreed number of patient contact hours for the agreed full time equivalent (FTE) status, pursuant to hospital policyCollaborates in establishing and achieving personal goals for numbers of exams interpreted and relative value unitsSupports appropriate billing for professional services through timely documentation and maintaining adequate knowledge of the Practice's billing policies and proceduresAdheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practice guidelinesCooperates with the preparation/participation for regulatory surveysResponds to telephone calls in a timely fashionReviews and follows up on complaints and concerns about medical careMaintains and improves skill level through participation in continuing medical educationManages patient care through appropriate use of available resourcesAppropriately prescribes and orders ancillary services as appropriate for interventional proceduresUtilizes referral network appropriatelyProvides medical leadership for the diagnostic imaging departmentServes as a resource to colleagues and support staff, enhancing quality of careAssists as requested in the training, orientation, and evaluation of clinical support staffAttends and actively participates in diagnostic imaging department staff meetings as requested or physician/staff meetingsParticipates in planning for the diagnostic imaging department and health system, providing input to the annual operating and capital budgets and the long-range strategic planParticipates in appropriate Medical Staff and clinic committee structureParticipates in community education and other professional activities to promote practice growth and community wellness as requestedMeets additional expectations of all Tahoe Forest Health System employeesDemonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.Complies with System policies and procedures.Performs other duties as may be assigned. If not board certified, must become board certified within five (5) years of residency or fellowship training. Must maintain board certification and satisfy specialty / subspecialty recertification requirements, as applicable.Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Other Experience/QualificationsMembership on the Hospital's medical staff and appropriate clinical privileges at Hospital in RadiologyAble to obtain and maintain professional liability insuranceEligible for participation in the Medicare and Medi-Cal programs and for credentialing by contracted health plans, as applicableAbility to utilize an electronic medical records system to review patient health history and test results, document clinical activities and findings and place ordersWorking knowledge of industry standards for medical coding (ICD-10 and CPT-4) and documentation practicesExperience with the interpretation of all imaging modalities performed at Tahoe Forest, including but not limited to X-ray, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, Dexa, MRI and Mammography, ECHOExperience performing interventional radiology proceduresEqual Opportunity EmployerThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
