Automation Engineer (AWS / AI / Internal Tools)NYC / Jersey City (Hybrid 1-2 days preferred) | Remote (U.S.) with travel (2-5x/year)$120K - $150K base + benefitsAbout the RoleWe're partnering with a large, publicly traded company undergoing a major transformation in how internal systems are built and operated.This is a builder role.You'll take manual, inefficient processes and turn them into automated, AI-powered solutions using AWS, modern tooling, and low-code platforms where appropriate. The focus is speed, impact, and real business outcomes - not long development cycles.What You'll DoDesign and deploy automation solutions to replace manual workflowsBuild and orchestrate solutions using AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, Bedrock, etc.)Develop internal tools using the right tool for the job (Power Platform, AI agents, or custom code)Integrate systems via APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and SSOBuild AI-assisted workflows and agent-based solutionsUse AI tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) to accelerate developmentPartner with business stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into working solutionsShip solutions in days/weeks, not monthsMust-HavesStrong hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, Step Functions, or similar)Active use of AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.)Experience building automation / internal tools / workflow solutionsStrong experience with APIs (REST, JSON, webhooks)Ability to move quickly across different tools and technologiesComfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environmentsNice to HaveExperience with Power Apps / Power Automate (not required, but helpful)Experience building AI agents or LLM-based workflowsBackground with Azure or full-stack developmentSQL / data integration experienceWhat Success Looks Like (First 6 Months)Multiple automations live and actively used by the businessManual processes replaced with scalable systemsRapid delivery of solutions in days/weeksRecognized as a go-to problem solver across teamsConsistent use of AI tools to increase development velocityLocationPreferred: NYC or Jersey City (1-2 days/week in office)Remote: Open, but must be willing to travel to NY/NJ for key meetings (2-5x/year)Who Thrives HereBuilders who like moving fast and figuring things outEngineers who experiment with new tools and aren't afraid to failDevelopers actively using AI to improve how they workPeople who prefer shipping solutions quickly vs. long dev cyclesAdditional InfoMust be authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
