This role is responsible for constructing upholstered furniture components, including both body panels and cushion covers, using a variety of fabrics and occasional vinyl materials.The Industrial Upholstery Sewing Technician will play an important role in ensuring upholstery components meet our quality and durability standards before moving to final assembly.Key Responsibilities* Operate industrial sewing machines to assemble upholstery components for furniture bodies and cushions.* Perform topstitching and decorative stitching to meet product design specifications and quality standards.* Sew and assemble various upholstery materials including fabric and vinyl, ensuring proper alignment, seam strength and finished appearance.* Read and interpret sewing patterns, work instructions, and upholstery diagrams to construct pieces accurately.* Prepare and organize fabric sections, ensuring materials are properly matched and oriented prior to sewing.* Use serging equipment to finish seams and prepare components such as kick pleats and skirt panels.* Assemble multiple sewn components into completed upholstery pieces including skirts, cushion covers, and body panels.* Inspect finished sewn components for stitch consistency, seam durability, and overall craftsmanship.* Label, bag, and stage completed pieces for the next step in the upholstery production process.* Maintain a clean and organized work area while following safety and quality standards.Ideal CandidateCandidates who will thrive in this role typically have:* Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines in a manufacturing or upholstery environment* Experience sewing furniture upholstery, cushions, or similar soft goods* Ability to read and follow patterns, sewing diagrams, or upholstery instructions* Experience performing topstitching and precision seam work* Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality finished pieces* Ability to work independently while maintaining production expectations* Comfort working in a seated position for extended periods (8-9 hours per shift)Why Join Hooker Furnishings?* A company dedicated to fostering a welcoming and supportive workplace where all individuals are valued and respected* Competitive compensation plans* 8 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays* Paid vacation and sick time* Opportunity to be part of a multinational organization with 14 U.S. locations and offices in Vietnam and China* Career development focus including training opportunities and leadership programs* Tuition reimbursement program* Emphasis on charitable giving and community involvement* Focus on Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives* Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans including generous HSA employer contributions* 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions* Opportunity to earn while you learn - we don't just offer jobs, we offer careers and the chance to develop valuable trade skillsShift:Monday - Friday7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
