In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and scaling the data infrastructure that powers product insights, business reporting, and operational decision-making across the company.You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership to ensure data is reliable, accessible, and actionable. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building robust data systems from the ground up in a fast-moving startup environment.This position reports to the CTO.Ideal candidates MUST be located in the New York City Metro area. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processesOwn data ingestion from product databases, third-party tools, and external data sourcesBuild and manage data models to support analytics, reporting, and operational workflowsEnsure data quality, reliability, and observability across the data stackPartner with Product, Operations, Growth, and Leadership to define key metrics and data requirementsSupport analytics and BI use cases by enabling clean, well-documented datasetsOptimize data storage, performance, and cost across the data platformImplement best practices for data governance, access controls, and securityTroubleshoot and resolve data pipeline failures and inconsistenciesContribute to technical documentation and improve data engineering standards over timeDesired Skills And QualificationsExperience: 2-5 years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering with a strong data focusProgramming: Strong experience with Python and/or similar languagesData Pipelines: Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, dbt, Fivetran, or similar tools)Databases & Warehousing: Experience with relational databases and modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift)Cloud: Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)Data Modeling: Strong understanding of analytics-friendly data modeling conceptsOwnership: Comfortable owning data systems end-to-end, from design through productionProblem-Solving: Proactive and thoughtful engineer who can navigate ambiguityCollaboration: Strong partner to cross-functional teams including Product, Ops, and FinanceCommunication: Clear written and verbal communication skillsAdaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving startup environmentWhat we offerCompensation: $110,000 - $160,000Unlimited PTOCompetitive equity packageEmployer Covered Medical BenefitsHybrid work in New York City (Midtown)Two in-person team retreats a yearWe are unable to support any visa outside of Canada (no H1B Visas)
