CNC Horizontal Mill Setup Machinist

For over 50 years we have offered machining solutions for many industries including Aerospace, Medical, Military, Electric Power, Instrumentation and Hydraulics.\nPosition Summary\nThe CNC Horizontal Mill Setup Machinist is responsible for the complete setup, troubleshooting, and process control of multi-axis CNC horizontal machining centers. This role provides shop-floor technical support and ensures all work is performed in compliance with AS9100 requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality management system procedures.\nKey Responsibilities\nCNC Milling Setup & Process Control\n• Perform complete and independent setups including fixtures, tombstones, tooling selection and validation, offset and program verification, and work coordinate setup.\nTouch probe and tool laser experience is preferred.\n• Prove out new and repeat jobs to establish a stable, repeatable process.\n• Control and document all setup and production activities in accordance with shop routers and work instructions.\nAbility to set up and run jobs as needed.\nQuality & AS9100 Compliance\n• Perform and document first piece, in-process, and final verification as required.\n• Ensure compliance with work instructions, process sheets, inspection plans, and customer flow-down requirements.\n.• Maintain full lot traceability and material control.\nContinuous Improvement & Production Support\n• Drive setup time reduction and spindle utilization improvements.\n• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on tooling improvements, work holding solutions, and process development.\n• Support new product introduction and process validation.\nRequired Qualifications\n• 8+ years CNC machining experience with extensive horizontal mill setup responsibility.\n• Demonstrated ability to develop and control repeatable machining processes.\n• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, tight-tolerance machining, and in-process inspection methods.\n• Experience working within an AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality system.\n• Ability to complete required production and quality documentation accurately.\nPreferred Qualifications\n• Aerospace or defense machining experience.\n• First Article Inspection support experience.\n• CAM system exposure (Mastercam or similar).\nPhysical Requirements\n• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.\n• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (greater with assistance).\nWhy Join Us\n• Work that directly supports the U.S. Submarine Industrial Base.\n• Clean, modern, high-performance machining environment.\n• Stable, long-term defense programs.\n• Ongoing training and advancement opportunities.
