PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT/NURSE PRACTITONER, ACSReporting directly to the Medical Director, ACS, the PA or NP will provide medical care and promotehealth to patients and to perform administrative duties related to providing care.The Chief Medical Officer and the Administrative Director of Ambulatory Care may assign other dutiesand projects as needed.Main Responsibilities:I.Do you have the right skills and experience for this role Read on to find out, and make your application.Patient Care: Provides medical care to ACS adolescents Takes relevant patient history.Identifies patient needs and makes diagnoses.Develops and implements treatment plans using diagnostic data.Performs complete well-care examinations including physical examinations.Performs complete gynecological histories and physical examinations as indicated.Writes prescriptions and informs patients about medications prescribed.Completes medical forms and documentation related to patient care.Makes and tracks all referrals to other agencies and providers, with follow-up care provided.Assists with phlebotomy, as needed, to ensure smooth patient flow.Administers Immunizations as needed.Distributes medication to patients.Reviews and signs all pertinent laboratory results and makes appropriate treatment decisionsbased on these data.Completes Court Orders and all other ACS mandated paperwork.Works collaboratively with physician and specialists for consultation and referral purposes.Evaluates and treats DJJ employees on an emergent basis.Administers Hepatitis B vaccinations to employees based on protocol.Coordinates organization of prescription medications involving ordering refills for secure andnon-secure detainees, discarding medications that are discontinued and preparing medications forNSD.Adheres to The Floating Hospital ???Clinical Guidelines??? Notebooks for adolescent care.Meets with designated supervising physician on a regular and predetermined basis, in order toreceive recommendations and collaborate towards delivering quality health care to patients, basedon accepted standards of-care.Participates in Peer Review process, as defined by The Floating Hospital.Encourages health promotion, disease prevention, and health maintenance.Provides healtheducation on topics including but not limited to preventive medicine and counseling on chronicdiseases, as well as parenting, prenatal, nutrition, family- planning, medication usage, and stressmanagement.Provides patient advocacy, as appropriate for the site.Participates in patient outreach, as appropriate for the site.II.Administrative Duties: Adheres to The Floating Hospital???s ???Provider Training Manual.??? When in the field, acts as on-site supervisor of medical assistants.Teaches medical assistants about patient care and triage, to improve patient flow, andcommunicates with Nursing Supervisor regarding status of flow at clinic site.Participates in case conferences in which patient care is discussed.Assists the Chief Medical Officer in the development and implementation of medical protocolsand medical forms.May initiate and participate in research related to health care or allied fields, in collaboration withthe Chief Medical Officer. xaygatp Makes suggestions to clinic supervisors to improve patient care.
