SummaryThe Kids Assistant serves alongside the Kids Ministry team to support the mission of developing resilient disciples who lead people to pursue Jesus where they live, work, and play. This role provides essential administrative, logistical, and ministry support to ensure that environments, programs, and events serving children and families are organized, safe, and welcoming. The Kids Assistant helps create excellent, distraction-free ministry environments where children, families, and volunteers can grow in their faith and feel genuinely cared for.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesIn partnership with the Kids Pastor and Kids Ministry team, the Kids Assistant will:Provide administrative and logistical support for all Kids Ministry programs and events, including Sunday and midweek gatherings, trainings, and family ministry initiatives.Support ministry communications by preparing and distributing clear, timely information to parents, volunteers, and staff through approved channels.Prepare weekly ministry environments by organizing curriculum materials, supplies, attendance processes, classroom resources, and rosters.Maintain calendars, event details, registration systems, and volunteer schedules to ensure alignment and smooth execution.Coordinate volunteer logistics, including scheduling, follow-up, onboarding steps, and training support.Provide on-site support during ministry programming and events by assisting with setup, welcoming families, and resolving logistical needs.Help implement and maintain safety procedures, check-in processes, and classroom systems in alignment with FBC Midlothian’s child protection policies.Secondary Job ResponsibilitiesSupport outreach initiatives, family events, and ministry activities that engage both the church and the surrounding community.Maintain ministry supplies, inventory, and resource materials to ensure readiness for all programming.Help cultivate a welcoming, organized, and spiritually engaging environment for children, families, volunteers, and guests.Provide support to volunteers by answering questions, assisting with logistics, and reinforcing ministry expectations.Participate in team meetings, planning conversations, and staff development opportunities.Perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall mission and effectiveness of Kids Ministry.Personal QualificationsThe Kids Assistant must demonstrate accuracy, initiative, and a strong team-oriented mindset. This individual should be a Christ follower who models a growing relationship with Jesus and a genuine passion for serving children and families.They should bring a spirit of humility, flexibility, and ownership to their work, along with a desire to learn and continuously improve. A high value on teamwork, clear communication, and follow-through is essential. This individual must be aligned with the mission, vision, and values of FBC Midlothian and willing to abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Personnel Manual.Education and/or ExperienceThe individual should demonstrate effectiveness in organization and execution in ministry or similar environments. Formal education is valued but relevant experience or an equivalent is acceptable.The individual must demonstrate the ability to operate a computer and quickly learn new computer systems, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Qualified individuals should be able to support volunteer processes, coordinate details, and communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, and families.Language SkillsThe individual must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to common inquiries or complaints, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format; effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Mathematical SkillsThe individual must be able to apply basic mathematical concepts and operations to such tasks as accounting, budget management, and financial expenses.Reasoning AbilityThe individual must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
