Recruitment Media Specialist

Description Duties Description Under the supervision of the Coordinator Correctional Services Employee Investigations, the Public Information Specialist 1 (Digital Content), participates in social media, branding, and social media design activities for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision’s (DOCCS) Central Office Bureau of Personnel, Employee Investigation Unit – Recruitment Unit, located in Cohoes.Duties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following Participate in social media, branding, and social media design activities for the New York State Department of Corrections & Community Supervision (DOCCS) Recruitment Unit. Develops content for social media platforms, website, and other print/digital publications related to programs and activities of DOCCS and ensures compliance with State and Agency guidelines, policies, and protocols. Drafts and edits a variety of written and digital materials and prepares the final copy. Manages and grows agency social media channels to further build DOCCS Recruitment branding. Assists in setting goals for the recruitment website and social media channels and develops data analytic reports for senior staff. Participates in social media meetings and project team meetings as required. Assists in making edits to DOCCS Recruitment website. Assists with the creation of content for social media, which may include shooting and editing photographs and video. Partners with the digital video production unit to produce and edit various recruitment and advertising videos. Assists the Recruitment office with other duties, publications and social media postings as requested by the Coordinator Correctional Services Employee Investigations. Tracks the performance of digital content including social media platforms. Performs other related duties as requested.Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Eligible for non-competitive appointment by meeting the following qualifications:Six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.Additional CommentsThis position is presently posted as temporary as the position is pending its jurisdictional class to be updated to non-competitive. Once the jurisdictional class has been updated to non-competitive the employee will be placed in the position with permanent status.
