Designer / On-Site Representative (OSR), Norfolk, VA

Job Description This is a year-round position located in Norfolk, VA.Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Designer / On-Site Rep (OSR)\nActing in a liaison capacity supporting the local PMR, SWRMC, and their Installing Agents (IA) with the installation of maintenance and / or modernization alterations during the ships scheduled CNO availabilities.\nSupport emergent waterfront issues and interface directly with the customer on the waterfront, Ship's Force, and GDBIW Engineers / Designers in Maine.\n\nDesigner Benefits package includes:\nAnnual wage increases and promotional opportunities\nFlexible work schedules\nVacation/Sick time options\n401k matching.\n\nRequired/Preferred Education/Training\nHigh School Diploma / GED required.\nAssociates / Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office tools required.\nRequired/Preferred Experience1st Class: ($33.02/Hr. - $39.13/Hr. - Includes Cost of Living Adjustment)\nMinimum of seven (7) years design experience, OR\nBachelor's degree with (2) years of design experience, OR\nAssociate / Vocational School degree with four (4) years design experience required\nCredit may be given for graphic arts or computer information systems experience\n\n\nAbility to interpret and follow technical procedures, standards, and work instructions required.\nMarine design/liaison experience may be required.\nDesign background with multi discipline experience preferred.\nProficiency in developing design in Auto-CAD.\nKnowledge of DDG Class ships and shipboard systems.\nProficiency in moderate to complex development work, problem solving and the review/check of another employee's work required may be required.\nMust have strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.\nDemonstrated ability to work independently with little oversight.\nAbility to represent Bath Iron Works autonomously and in a professional manner.\n\nThis position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. This will require some climbing, kneeling, bending, carrying a back pack, and occasionally needing to squeeze in between cabinets and into tight spaces.
