Role Responsibilities:The Compliance Coordinator is assigned to properties with affordable housing compliance and is responsible for ensuring all properties within their region are in compliance with federal, state, and county regulations. This position works closely with other members of the Compliance Department as well as other Operational Departments to ensure smooth flow of operations and works out of multiple worksites. In addition, this position is responsible for the following:Ensuring compliance with affordability requirements during the residents' tenancyProcessing and completing interim, initial, and termination certifications as applicableGenerating recertification notices that comply with HUD and IRS notification requirementsProcessing and completing annual recertifications, including communicating directly with residents to ensure compliance with program requirementsProcessing renewal paperwork, including Section 8 voucher renewals when applicableGenerating vacancy claims and repayment agreements to be submitted to the Director of Compliance for approvalScheduling Section 8 voucher inspections with the Centralized Maintenance TeamEnsuring occupancy standards and house rules are being followed by current residents and communicating with other departments as neededActing as a backup or additional support for other members of the Compliance DepartmentComplying with all Federal, State, and local Fair Housing regulations and ordinancesAssisting with the preparation of file audits and management reviews on siteAttending quarterly and annual trainings to maintain compliance knowledge and expertiseAssisting other Operational Departments as neededPerforming other duties as assignedEducation and Experience:High school graduate or equivalent1 or more years of property management compliance experience, including affordable housingTax Credit Specialist, Blended Occupancy Specialist, Assisted Housing Manager, or Certified Occupancy Specialist preferred but not requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Solid understanding of LIHTC, HOME, and HUD subsidy and Fair Housing regulations and practicesAbility to maintain a positive and productive customer-focused attitudeEnthusiastic team playerStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of peopleA commitment to excellence in customer serviceAbility to effectively use, leverage, and learn technology platformsYardi experience preferredShelter Corporation is an equal opportunity employer.
