Prestressed, Precast Concrete Production Manager
JOB SUMMARYThe Production Manager (Prestress) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of prestressed, precast concrete production to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality production. This role includes managing production schedules, coordinating workforce activities, optimizing workflow and ensuring adherence to quality standards, safety protocols and Company policies. The Production Manager (Prestress) reports to the Operations Manager. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Develop, plan, schedule & manage production activities in coordination with demand forecasts, project deadlines and client requirementsSupervise, train, manage & support production staff, including supervisors, machine operators & laborers; involvement in the hiring processConduct performance reviews and provide coaching or corrective action as necessaryCollaborate with Engineering/Design teams to interpret technical drawings & ensure product specs are metMaintain accurate production records, reports and documentation for management and regulatory purposesCoordinate with logistics and shipping teams to ensure timely delivery of finished productsOversee daily operations of prestress and precast concrete production to ensure efficiency and qualityInvestigate and resolve product quality issues promptlyTroubleshoot equipment and process issues, and coordinate maintenance or repairs as neededLead continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing or similar methodologiesCommunicate with Engineering, Scheduling, QC, Project Managers and other Production team members to manufacture products to ensure customer satisfaction is met dailyEnforce strict adherence to all safety procedures and protocolsIdentify and mitigate safety hazards in the plant environmentLead safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA or relevant regulatory requirementsAnalyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks and areas for improvementRecommend and implement changes to improve productivity, reduce waste and lower production costsMonitor usage of raw materials and precast componentsMinimize material waste and support sustainable practicesFoster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement SKILLS & ABILITIES High school diploma or equivalentBS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering or related field preferred10+ years of experience in production or operations management within the precast concrete industry managing PCI certified plantsStrong understanding of pre-stressing techniques, tensioning equipment, and strand handlingProven leadership and team management abilitiesExcellent planning, problem-solving, and organizational skillsStrong understanding of quality assurance processes and safety regulationsFamiliarity with ERP systems and production management softwareStrong organizational skills and attention to detailMust be self-motivated and able to work independently or with a team; willingness to be flexible as neededValid DL with clear driving recordConsistent, reliable and punctual attendanceAbility to read drawings/blueprints FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires constant (70-100%) standing, lifting up to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, use hands to finger, hearing (listening) and observing (vision), hand/eye coordination and walking. Consists of 60% forklift driving, 30-40% walking and supervising workers on crew to ensure safety, productivity and organization on daily yard operations. Requires frequent (40-69%) climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching and occasional (0-39%) sitting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust and focus. This position is subject to onsite hazards including but not limited to moving industrial equipment, hazardous energies (LOTO), climbing ladders, working at heights, working on uneven or unimproved surfaces and areas of high noise levels, may operate hand and power tools (electric, gas & pneumatic) of all types. Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc. May be required to work in confined spaces. Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.). Candidate must be able to be medically qualified by a NON-DOT or other job specific physical.
