We’re building more than infrastructure; we are building your future.General SummaryThis position is responsible for managing all aspects of accounting and finance for the assigned location to ensure accuracy, timely completion and compliance with Company policies, General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements (SOX).Essential Job AccountabilitiesSupervise month end financial close process including the review of invoices, hourly and salary payroll, equipment profitability, subcontractor/supplier agreements, materials financials, inventory, journal entries, account reconciliations, customers’ credit & collections, and accruals to achieve Company deadlines and SOX and GAAP complianceProvide oversight of location deployed shared services in conjunction with Shares Service (SSC), and coordinate deployed shared service process improvement initiatives with SSC and operations finance leadership to ensure efficient business processesSupervise the execution of contracts, issuance of insurance certificates, payment and performance bonds, and establishment of escrow accounts in lieu of retention to ensure the location is in compliance with Company policy and legal requirementsManage Office Managers and other Accounting Staff including hiring, discharge, job evaluations, training and development to ensure productivity and employee engagementProvide financial and analytical support to operations finance leadership including consolidation of financial reports, financial analysis and other related financial reporting requirements to ensure GAAP and Company policies are achievedPreparation and management of the overhead budgets and forecasts, under the guidance of the operations finance leadership to ensure accurate and timely reporting and cost controlAssist in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly and quarterly financial forecasts as well as the annual business unit plan to ensure company requirements are metResearch all legal matters regarding contracts, liens, and subcontracts, to facilitate resolution and act as the primary liaison with the corporate legal staff and outside counselAssist with internal audits and self-audits of all business functions to ensure that established internal controls are followed to maintain compliance with Granite’s policies and procedures, including all Sarbanes-Oxley requirementsProvide support and leadership for continuous process improvements to improve business profitability and efficiencyEducationBachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field requiredWork Experience5+ years practical work experience1+ years management/supervisory experienceProgressive and experience in business and accounting related functions, preferably in the heavy-civil construction and construction materials industryEnterprise system experience (JD Edwards/Oracle e1 experience a plus)Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challengesStrong management and interpersonal skills.Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources, people and projectsUnderstanding of regulatory requirements (SOX, GAAP, DBE, collection laws, contract law, etc.)Advanced writing and communication skills.Ability to effectively work with Sr. Mgmt.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
