Early Childhood Instructional and Mental Health CoachLocation: Site Levels/Schools to be assignedReports To: Early Childhood Supervisor andSchool PrincipalSalary Range: Per WBR Salary ScheduleTerms of Employment: 10 MonthsFLSA Status: ExemptPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:The primary responsibility of the Early Childhood Instructional Coach is to improve, standardize, and bring consistency to the quality of the instruction of the core instructional areas in early childhood classrooms. Coaches will model lessons and work with teachers and students. They should spend the majority of their day supporting teachers and analyzing data to implement and sustain effective instructional strategies grounded in scientifically based research.Works collaboratively with the principals and teachers at the assigned schools in developing instructional plans that are consistent with the core instructional area(s) and improvement efforts of West Baton Rouge Parish.Supports the instructional development of teachers in understanding the curriculum, assessments, and data analysis.Builds strong relationships with teachers, family advocates, administrators, managers, and other instructional coaches.Attends meetings for West Baton Rouge Parish Ready Start Network (WBR RSN) and other entities to implement best practices in early childhood.Participates in professional development on Louisiana Birth to 5 Early Learning and Development Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tools, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Frog Street Curriculums in order to stay abreast of the latest research and trends in early childhood education.Collaborates with staff to improve the classroom climate and instruction utilizing child screening results, child outcomes data, and program quality assessment results and coordinates services needed for children and families.Provides job-embedded professional learning related to curriculum implementation and planning, classroom management, CLASS, and assessment data.Assists early childhood staff in implementing challenging and rigorous curriculums.Provides consistent, on-going consultation to teaching staff to support differentiated instruction for children with challenging behaviors and/or academic concerns.Observes lessons and provides feedback for teacher's professional growth and students' success.Teaches/co-teaches demonstration lessons.Conducts observations (CLASS and/or Mental Health Wellness Visits) twice a year.Completes training and annual recertification on all reliable CLASS tools.Responsible for recordkeeping, analyzing and reporting screenings, Brigance as well as the Ages & Stages, and providing strategies and support plans to teachers and families.Completes monthly reports with child specific data related to the academic and social emotional needs of children, staff and families utilizing Brigance online system, GoEngage, Teaching Strategies GOLD, child files and Program Improvement Plan.Collaborates with staff to ensure the timely completion of all child data, family support, and follow up.Provides strategies and encouragement to empower parents to implement classroom strategies and support plans at home. Also identifies community resources as needed to support with ongoing care and early intervention to meet child and family needsReports safety concerns and potential hazards identified at sites to the family advocate and Head Start Supervisor.Assists with implementation of corrective action as needed to support safe environments and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Performs all other duties as required by SupervisorMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree from an accredited university preferredValid Louisiana Type A or B Level III or II teaching certificate in Early Childhood/Elementary GradesMinimum of three to five years of successful experience working in an educational settingPhysical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and dutiesAdheres to all West Baton Rouge Parish School Board's PoliciesPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.NOTE:This job description is subject to change at any time.
