The primary responsibilities for the Fright and Logistics Specialist position include but not limited to:
As a Freight and Logistics Specialist you are responsible for studying /working with carriers and suppliers to ensure that freight is routed in the most consistent, cost-effective manner and continuously improving.
You will need to anticipate and solve problems daily as well as provide effective communication to all necessary parties.
Managing imports/exports and proper accurate documents for entrance.
You will work closely with the plants ordering specialists to confirm that our actual situation is lined up with plan and implementing countermeasures, as necessary.
Responsibilities but not limited to:
Tracking/managing freight Budget vs Actual
Weekly Tracking of Freight Cost and initial approval of freight invoices.
Planning of freight routes with carriers OTR, LTL, & Milk Runs to mitigate risk and reduce cost (Cost Reduction Activities)
Work with suppliers and carriers on setting up window times
Conducting freight studies to best utilize trailer space. Overweight support with ordering spec.
Supplier expedite management with strong communication to stakeholders
Requesting quotes & setting up domestic & overseas freight contracts
Conduct the annual ocean freight bid requesting multiple quotes and helping to choose final direction
Import/Export management of USMCA, HTS Codes & general shipments
Conduct meetings to communicate freight & logistics situations and improvement activity
Support ASI and the Mass PC Mgr. in meeting all companywide and departmental goals
Other duties as assigned

Excellent coordinating & organizational skills to manage multiple tasks & activities
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to process data
Possess excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Auto CAD, and AS400 knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience & Education
Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain/logistics, manufacturing, business
3-5 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, with a background in transportation/logistics & financial experience
HTS Code Classification Training
