National Sales Engineer Industry: Telecom Infrastructure, Data Centers & Energy Storage SystemsAlamon, Inc. is seeking a National Sales Engineer to drive sales and support service delivery across the communications, data center, utility, and energy storage markets. Blending technical expertise with strong customer engagement, you will develop and sell advanced solutions involving communication materials, power systems, and infrastructure equipment. In this pivotal role, you will align customer needs with Alamon’s capabilities to drive revenue growth and build long-term partnerships.Position Summary:The National Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales and supporting service delivery of materials and equipment across communications, data center, utility, and energy storage markets. This role combines technical expertise with customer engagement to develop, sell, and support solutions involving communication materials, power systems, and infrastructure equipment.The position plays a critical role in aligning customer needs with Alamon’s product offerings and service capabilities to drive revenue growth and establish long-term partnerships.This role reports to the Director of Sales and Service.Key ResponsibilitiesSales of Materials & EquipmentDrive national sales of communication materials, DC power systems, battery systems, data center equipment, and energy storage solutionsIdentify and pursue new business opportunities across carriers, data centers, utilities, EPC firms, and infrastructure providersGrow revenue through new customer acquisition and expansion of existing accountsSupport pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and margin performanceMaintain a strong and consistent sales pipeline focused on materials and equipment opportunitiesResponsible for maintaining a minimum 15% GP margin floor on all projects to ensure company profitability and incentive eligibility.Technical Sales Support & Solution DevelopmentProvide technical expertise in product selection, system configuration, and equipment integrationDevelop proposals, quotes, and scopes of work for materials and equipment salesSupport RFP/RFQ responses with accurate technical and commercial informationPartner with sales teams to position solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standardsService & Execution AlignmentCoordinate with operations and service teams to ensure successful delivery and installation of sold equipmentAlign sales commitments with service capabilities, timelines, and project execution requirementsSupport project handoff, ensuring clarity in scope, materials, and technical expectationsAssist in resolving technical or service-related issues during and after deliveryCustomer & Account ManagementServe as a primary technical and commercial point of contact for customersBuild and maintain strong relationships with key accounts across target industriesEnsure customer satisfaction through responsive support and service coordinationSupport long-term account growth through repeat materials and equipment salesVendor & Product ManagementWork closely with OEMs, manufacturers, and distributors to support product sales and availabilityStay current on product lines, pricing, and technical specificationsAssist in product selection and ensure compatibility with customer requirementsProvide market feedback to vendors based on customer needsCRM & ReportingUtilize CRM to manage pipeline, opportunities, and forecastingMaintain accurate records of quotes, sales activity, and customer interactionsSupport reporting and continuous improvement of sales processes and workflowsQualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Engineering, Technology, or related field preferred)5–10+ years of experience in sales engineering, technical sales, or materials/equipment salesStrong experience selling telecom, data center, or power infrastructure equipmentKnowledge of DC power systems, battery technologies, or energy storage solutions preferredExperience working with OEMs, distributors, or channel partnersProven ability to support and close technical sales opportunitiesCRM experience (HubSpot preferred)Strong communication, negotiation, and customer engagement skillsCore CompetenciesMaterials & equipment sales expertiseTechnical product knowledgeCustomer relationship ManagementSales execution and pipeline managementCross-functional collaboration (sales + service + operations)Work EnvironmentFast-paced, hands-on environmentCombination of office, remote, and field workTravel required based on business needsIdeal Candidate ProfileEntrepreneurial mindset with a strong ownership mentalityProven ability to close deals and build scalable business processesData-driven decision makerCapable of building and scaling high-performing teamsCompensationCompetitive base salary plus performance-based commission and annual profit-sharing tied to revenue and margin growth.Physical Requirements:Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights.Be able to work in tight spaces and stairwells.Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.Work Environment:This position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide, travel is required.Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.Travel Requirements:Lodging and transportation is covered by the company when traveling and staying overnight for work when required.Must have a reliable vehicle, insurance, and internet access.
