LatinoBuilt works with partners within the community to address current inequities and connects contractors to public works project opportunities. Since its establishment, LatinoBuilt has experienced tremendous growth, serving 271+ members annually and creating pathways for professional development, business ownership, and intergenerational wealth for Latino families and communities.We are seeking an experienced Executive Director who will provide visionary leadership, build strategic partnerships, and position LatinoBuilt for continued impact and sustainability.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of LatinoBuilt, setting the strategic direction of the organization in partnership with the Board of Directors. This role focuses on external relationships, organizational positioning, revenue development, and ensuring LatinoBuilt's mission and vision drive all activities. The Executive Director will serve as the primary spokesperson and relationship builder with funders, government entities, industry partners, and the broader community while providing leadership and oversight to the Deputy Director who manages internal operations and staff.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Leadership & Organizational Direction (30%)Develop and implement long-term strategic plans in partnership with the Board of DirectorsSet organizational priorities that advance LatinoBuilt's mission to support Latino-owned construction businessesIdentify emerging opportunities and challenges in the construction industry and Latino business communityLead organizational positioning and thought leadership within the construction equity spaceMonitor industry trends, policy changes, and funding landscapes to inform strategic decisionsEnsure organizational activities align with mission, values, and strategic goalsFundraising & Revenue Development (25%)Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue development strategy including foundation and government grants, sponsorships, major donors, and earned revenueCultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsorsLead high-level grant strategy and identification of new funding opportunitiesRepresent LatinoBuilt to funders and make compelling cases for supportOversee development of grant proposals in collaboration with Deputy Director and staffBuild sustainable revenue streams to ensure long-term organizational viabilityWork with the Board to engage board members in fundraising activitiesExternal Relations & Partnership Development (25%)Serve as the primary spokesperson and public face of LatinoBuiltBuild and maintain strategic partnerships with government entities, industry associations, contractors, and community organizationsRepresent LatinoBuilt at public events, conferences, and with mediaCultivate relationships with public sector partners to expand opportunities for membersAdvocate for policy changes that benefit Latino contractors and address industry inequitiesNetwork with construction industry leaders to open doors for LatinoBuilt membersEngage with elected officials and government agencies on issues affecting Latino contractorsBoard Relations & Governance (10%)Partner with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance and strategic oversightPrepare materials for and attend all board and committee meetingsProvide regular updates to Board President and full Board on organizational performanceSupport board development, recruitment, and engagement activitiesSeek Board approval for major policy decisions, strategic initiatives, and financial commitmentsEnsure compliance with legal and regulatory requirementsMember Engagement & Community Relations (10%)Serve as a visible and accessible leader within the LatinoBuilt member communityAttend and speak at key member events and meetingsUnderstand and respond to evolving member needsBuild trust and credibility with Latino contractors and the broader Latino business communityConnect members to opportunities, resources, and each otherCelebrate member successes and elevate member storiesOrganizational Management & Oversight (10%)Supervise, and evaluate the Deputy DirectorProvide strategic guidance and support to Deputy Director on operational mattersEnsure Deputy Director has resources and authority to manage day-to-day operations effectivelyFoster a positive, mission-driven organizational cultureMake final decisions on significant operational, financial, and personnel matters in consultation with Deputy DirectorEnsure organizational policies and practices support staff success and organizational effectivenessQUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field; Master's degree preferredMinimum 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, association leadership, or related fieldDemonstrated success in fundraising and revenue development, including grants, major gifts, and corporate partnershipsExperience working with boards of directors and understanding of nonprofit governanceProven track record building strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholdersExperience working with or in the construction industry strongly preferredExperience working with Latino communities and understanding of Latino business landscape strongly preferredRequired Skills & CompetenciesExcellent bilingual communication skills in Spanish and English (written and verbal) - REQUIREDExceptional relationship-building skills with ability to connect with diverse audiences including business owners, funders, government officials, and community leadersStrategic thinking with ability to see the big picture while understanding operational implicationsStrong public speaking and presentation skillsProven ability to represent an organization professionally and compellinglyFinancial acumen and ability to understand budgets, financial reports, and organizational sustainabilityAbility to work effectively with diverse concepts, individuals, and organizationsSolutions-oriented mindset with entrepreneurial spiritHigh emotional intelligence and cultural competencyAbility to balance bold vision with practical implementationValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordTechnologyProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Google SuiteExperience with CRM systems (HubSpot experience a plus)Comfort learning and adopting new technology platformsDESIRED QUALITIESDeep commitment to the success of Latino-owned small businesses and entrepreneurship in constructionPassion for advancing equity in the construction industryUnderstanding of and respect for Latino culture and communityPersonal high integrity and ethicsAuthentic leadership style that builds trustAbility to inspire, motivate, and bring out the best in othersComfort with ambiguity and ability to adapt to changing environmentsCollaborative approach that values input from staff, board, and membersWORKING CONDITIONSFull-time position based in Portland, OregonRegular evening and weekend commitments for events and meetingsLocal travel required;
