Job Title: Parent Child Home Educator- ParaprofessionalSupervisor: Director of Elementary Education and Coordinator of Early Childhood and ParentingTerms of Employment: 190 daysJob SummaryUnder the guidance of the Director of Elementary Education and Coordinator of Early Childhood and Parenting, this position supports at-risk families and their preschool aged children in developing literacy and learning skills through weekly in-person or virtual home visits.Essential DutiesSupport families by providing two 30-minute virtual or in-person visits per weekModel appropriate ways for parents to verbally interact with their child using the approved program curriculum and materialsCreate an atmosphere in which the parent/guardian feels comfortable to participateWrite and submit accurate and detailed anecdotal reports for each home visitOrganize paperwork and submit reports and timesheets within program timelinesAdminister pre- and post- evaluations on each assigned childMaintain accurate and timely assessment data records.Respect the privacy of all participating familiesMaintain a non-judgmental attitude toward participating familiesWork independently and responsiblyParticipate in training and in-service programs provided by the ParentChild+ Lead EducatorComplete 15 hours of recommended training by the National ParentChild+ AssociationParticipate in the two-hour weekly staff development meetingOther DutiesPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Elementary Education / Coordinator of Early Childhood and ParentingJob SpecificationsPerformance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the HCS policy on the evaluation of Professional Personnel.Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required)Fluency in English and Spanish preferredAssociates degree, Parapro Assessment or 60 hours college creditAbility to maintain level of confidentialityValid South Carolina Driver's LicenseReliable transportationBasic knowledge of the development of young children to include various stages of early childhood development and milestones for each age groupCultural sensitivityPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
