Snowflake Data Engineer
Snowflake & Data Engineering Specialist
Location: Northwest of Boston, MA
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Snowflake & Data Engineering Specialist to join our growing data team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and wants to be involved in every aspect of the data lifecycle.
Unlike larger organizations where responsibilities are highly specialized, this role offers broad exposure across data architecture, ingestion, ETL development, optimization, reporting support, and platform modernization. You will help drive our transition away from legacy SSIS-based processes and play a key role in building the next generation of our cloud-based data ecosystem.
We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked in smaller or mid-sized organizations where they have owned projects from start to finish and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves to solve problems.
What You'll Do
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Snowflake
Lead efforts to migrate legacy SSIS workflows to modern cloud-based solutions
Perform end-to-end data ingestion from a variety of source systems, APIs, flat files, databases, and third-party platforms
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes to support analytics and business operations
Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions
Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve existing data integration processes
Create and maintain data models, transformations, and data quality processes
Support reporting, analytics, and downstream data consumers
Participate in architecture discussions and help shape the company's long-term data strategy
Contribute wherever needed as part of a collaborative, high-impact team
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL Development, or related roles
Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake
Advanced SQL development and query optimization skills
Experience building and supporting end-to-end data ingestion pipelines
Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT solutions
Experience migrating or modernizing legacy data integration platforms, including SSIS
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
Experience integrating data from multiple internal and external sources
Ability to troubleshoot complex data issues and improve pipeline performance
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ideal Background
Experience working in a small or mid-sized company environment
Someone who enjoys variety rather than specialization
Comfortable owning projects from requirements gathering through deployment and support
Has personally built and maintained data ingestion processes, not just supported them
Self-starter who can operate with minimal bureaucracy and high autonomy
Enjoys being a key contributor on a lean, collaborative team
Nice to Have
Experience with cloud data platforms and modern ETL tools
Python or scripting experience
Experience with APIs and third-party data integrations
Exposure to data visualization and reporting platforms
Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices
Why Join Us?
Broad ownership and visibility across the data function
Opportunity to help modernize the organization's data platform
Small team where your contributions have immediate impact
Exposure to architecture, engineering, analytics, and business-facing projects
A role for someone who enjoys solving a variety of data challenges rather than being siloed into a single specialty
If you're the type of data professional who enjoys building pipelines one day, optimizing Snowflake the next, and partnering with the business to solve complex data problems, we'd love to hear from you.
