PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Counselor Secretary will provide clerical/administrative support to the school counselors; conveying information regarding school and/or District functions and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution
Preferred
One+ years secretarial/clerical experience in school setting
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Ability to work well with students, parents and staff
Ability to communicate effectively
Proficiency in use of computer
Ability to organize and prioritize work
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Provide general secretarial service
Compose documents/correspondence to communicate information to staff, students, parents and public
Evaluate situations and take appropriate action or direct to appropriate personnel
Ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws/regulations
Assist with standardized testing
Develop knowledge of school policies and counseling procedures.
Maintain confidentiality
Schedule and supervise student aides
Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
Obtain knowledge of student information program
Perform all other duties as assigned
WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following
Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
