Taproom Assistant Manager (BTAP)

Job DescriptionWe are currently hiring a Taproom Assistant Manager at the Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom in Boston, MAThe Taproom Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Tap Room (Front of House) at the Sam Adams Downtown Taproom.The Assistant Manager directly supports the culture, craft, and creativity of the Brewery and Taproom. This position provides superior beer education and hospitality training while ensuring safe, sound operations. The Taproom Assistant Manager is responsible for staffing, scheduling, and maintaining an understanding of COGS, inventory procedures, and sales building. The ideal candidate has prior Front of House and retail/inventory experience.What You'll Brew:Opens/Closes Taproom - weekend and weekday shiftsParticipates in hiring, scheduling and training of all Taproom employees; adhering to employment laws. Ensuring Taproom facilities are fully functioning daily, reporting issues and suggested improvements to the General ManagerWorks closely with Brewing Operations on:Receiving beer, dry goods, & cleaning suppliesMaintaining proper beer inventory levels Updating Taproom printed menus as neededRequesting specialty beersBeer education for the Taproom staff and guestsMerchandise & InventorySupplies – tracks and forecasts supply needs; i.e. glassware, cleaning supplies, gift cards, retail itemsConducts inventory as needed – weekly and/or monthly based on area of responsibilityWorks with BBC to address inventory discrepancies and work on solutions to control shrinkageCash handling- Daily oversight and reporting of cash on handSafetyIn charge of ensuring all Taproom employees have completed mandated trainingsEnsures that the cleanliness of the Taproom and the safety of our guests and employees are always maintainedWorks with security to ensure only guests of legal age are permitted on the premises during volume hoursIn conjunction with all management, enforces compliance and adherence to all employment policies within the Assistant Manager’s area of responsibilityParticipate in oral and written disciplineAssists with terminations as neededTraining and developmentIn charge of Taproom employees’ position training – bartenders, security, support staff etc.In charge of beer training and continued beer education for all Tap Room staffPartners with General Manager to complete employee evaluations on an annual basisWorks with Head brewer to continuously develop and create an exceptional tour experience for the Tap Room guestsAssists with development of part-time employeesWhat Ingredients You'll Bring: Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.Minimum Qualifications:3+ years either in high volume /restaurant/taproom/retail managementExcellent communication skillsStrong organization skillsPassion for craft beer and a desire to learnAbility to solve problems and handle high stress situationsStrong computer skillsMust be well versed in Excel, Word, and OutlookOutgoing and personableActs as a role model for all staffProvide timely service that enhances guests’ Taproom experiences Inspects food and food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulationsInvestigate and resolve food/beer quality and service complaintsOpen to coaching and constructive feedback from peers and leadership teamAbility to work with a teamAbility to interact well with others and conduct a fun, interactive, educational and successful promotion involving alcoholDesired Qualifications:Experienceinthecraftbeer industry Experience in retail/inventory managementT.I.P.S. certified Craftbeer background Experience working with a leading point of sale system.Level: 6At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the annual salary range is between $62,000 and $114,000. However, it’s important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.
