This job can be worked from anywhere in the US as long as you have high speed internet and a distraction-free home office area. Job Summary The Inpatient Utilization Management RN is primarily responsible for conducting timely inpatient utilization reviews and authorization determinations to ensure appropriate level of care, regulatory compliance, and optimal turnaround times. This role supports organizational goals by applying clinical expertise to acute inpatient cases while collaborating with providers, internal UM staff, and interdisciplinary teams. Pay $28+ an hour based on experience (overtime will be paid at 1.5 times the normal hourly pay rate). Hours: Full Time - Monday-Friday 8am-5pm CST Why this Opportunity? Effective Date / Tentative Start Date: Interviewing Immediately Job Duties: Conduct inpatient utilization management reviews to assess medical necessity, appropriateness of admission, continued stay, and level of care Complete an average of 9 or more inpatient authorization determinations per day, including all supporting documentation and follow-up activities Apply evidence-based guidelines (e.g., InterQual or MCG) to support authorization and denial decisions Communicate clinical determinations clearly and professionally with providers, facilities, and internal stakeholders Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and payer-specific UM requirements Document review outcomes accurately and timely within designated UM systems Requirements Active, unrestricted Texas RN license or compact license for non-Texas residents Associate's degree or higher Minimum of 2 years of acute inpatient Utilization Management experience Strong knowledge of acute care clinical standards, inpatient workflows, and authorization processes A reliable high-speed internet connection (the faster the better!) Ability to pass a background check and drug test Private, quiet, and distraction-free workspace in a room with a closed-door Highly Preferred Large corporation experience Health plan / managed care / healthcare industry experience WHO SHOULD APPLY?
