Deck Electrician
Deck ElectricianHutco, Inc. is seeking experienced Deck Electricians to support shipbuilding and repair operations in Newport News, Virginia. This role involves installing, maintaining, and testing shipboard electrical systems in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and safety standards.Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial, marine, or commercial nuclear electrical work and be capable of working in physically demanding shipyard environments.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Read and interpret shipboard electrical drawings, schematics, wiring tables, and work packagesPerform general deck electrician duties, including: Layout and mounting of electrical equipment and wirewaysInstallation of cable penetrations in bulkheads, decks, and equipmentCable installation and terminationsCut-in and hook-up of electrical systemsUse electrical testing equipment such as: Volt-ohm metersClamp-on ammetersInsulation resistance testers (megger)Work independently with minimal supervisionUtilize electrician hand tools (pliers, wrenches, crimpers, sockets, etc.)Perform work in confined spaces, at heights, and in challenging shipyard conditionsSuccessfully complete Stud Shooting Training and Vision Test (NNS requirement)Requirements:Experience:Minimum 3 years of electrical experience in: MarineIndustrialCommercial NuclearTechnical Skills:Strong blueprint and schematic reading abilityProficiency with electrical tools and testing instrumentsKnowledge of shipboard electrical installation practicesPhysical Requirements:Ability to: Climb ladders and stairs (vertical and inclined)Crawl, bend, and stoopWork at heights and in confined spacesMust be able to perform physically demanding labor in varying environmental conditionsBenefits:A limited benefit plan is available to Hutco Inc. employees through Essential Staff Care.Available plans include:Medical/PrescriptionDental CoverageVision CoverageShort Term DisabilityTerm Life BenefitsAccidental Death & Dismemberment BenefitHutco, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
