CDL B Flatbed Driver
Job Description:
CDL B driver to operate a 28-foot flatbed truck (automatic transmission) and Class B 55 box truck) for deliveries and pickups. The role involves transporting plumbing materials to customers and vendors, ensuring secure loads, and assisting with occasional yard and warehouse tasks.
Mileage—150 to 200 miles per day could be more or less, 80% driving and 20% Warehouse, which includes Receiving and shipping, inventory management, order picking and packing, Forklift operation, material handling, loading and unloading trucks and general maintenance and housekeeping.
Must Haves:
1. 1 year of CDL experience—Class B CDL experience
2. Reading and Writing Skills—ability to read, understand and write on work orders
3. Loading and Unloading trucks—ability to match load with paperwork provided
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a Class B flatbed truck for deliveries and pickups.
Load and unload materials using a sit-down forklift (training provided if needed).
Secure loads using straps attached to the vehicle (strapping experience preferred).
Perform occasional yard work and assist in the pipe yard when not driving (always alongside another team member).
Handle pickup returns from customers and collect materials from vendors as needed.
Maintain accurate delivery documentation and follow all safety protocols.
Requirements:
Work Hours: 6:00 am-3:30 pm with a 30 minute lunch
Job Functions:
Deliver materials by the time scheduled by your supervisor.
Validate directions.
Unload or assist in unloading material as required.
Ensure that material is properly secured and within weight limits.
Ensure delivery of ticket with material and obtain customer signature.
Communicate with your supervisor throughout the day.
Pick up customer returns and validate that product matches request for credit.
Pick up local-pickup purchase orders.
Secure and return packing list(s).
Verify all material has been unloaded and placed at the delivery site.
Verify the customers signature on the delivery ticket.
Print name next to signature if necessary.
Review delivered orders with the supervisor for completion, accuracy, and format.
Return all delivery ticket copies to warehouse and verify that none are missing.
Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and regulations.
Fuel the truck as necessary.
