This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, hybrid role, with required in-office presence every Thursday in West Allis or Eau ClaireHybrid Residency Requirement: For payroll purposes, hybrid employees must reside in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, or MinnesotaAbout the RoleReporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Project Accountant supports a specialized accounting function focused on the financial management of rental properties, including HUD and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties. This role plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness while partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders.What You'll DoAccounting & Financial ManagementRecord and manage rental income and property-related expenses in compliance with GAAPPrepare monthly accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany billingsMaintain balance sheet integrity and complete monthly account reconciliationsManage banking activity, including cash transfers and positive payTrack allowance for doubtful accounts and tenant subledger activityRecord construction draws for new development projects (as applicable)Collaborate with property managers and operations teams to resolve discrepanciesPartner with investors and external stakeholders on project financial mattersBudgeting & ForecastingParticipate in annual property budgetsForecast cash flow, income, and expensesProvide financial insights and recommendations to support profitabilityReporting & CompliancePrepare monthly financial statements and fluctuation analysesLead HUD and LIHTC audits and complete REAC annual reportingReview operating and management agreements to ensure complianceSupport Form 990 tax reporting when applicableWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA a plus)3+ years of experience in financial accounting and/or auditingStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and analysisAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)Experience explaining financial concepts to non-accounting partnersStrong attention to detail, organization, and judgmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesCollaborative mindset with a customer-service orientationAdditional RequirementsValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to meet LSS motor vehicle and insurance requirementsWhy Join LSS?At LSS, your work directly supports our mission of serving people, strengthening families, and building communities.
