A top national law firm has an immediate opening for a paralegal/legal assistant (dual role) to join our team in its Dallas office. Successful candidates will have exceptional research, writing, and litigation skills. Responsibilities: Provide administrative and paralegal support for three or more attorneys. Draft, finalize, and e-file pleadings in federal and state court. Manage multiple cases from start to trial. Collect, organize, analyze, and summarize medical records and other documents. Conduct various document searches and factual research. Coordinate lawyers’ calendars and litigation case dockets. Open new matters and manage physical and electronic files. Create, edit, and proofread letters, legal documents, and memos. Organize and maintain all correspondence and documents using the relevant document management system. Manage emails, calendar appointments, and client contact lists. Schedule meetings and coordinate all logistics. Import electronic documents, including scanning documents into the document management system. Coordinate entering, editing, and tracking daily time recording for assigned timekeepers and/or self. Prepare check requests and expense reports. Assist other legal assistants with overflow work and provide backup support during periods of annual or personal leave. Prepare summaries of deposition transcripts, medical records, and discovery pleadings. Gather relevant information from various sources, including legal research. Set priorities and meet deadlines effectively. Adapt to changing priorities and troubleshoot issues to create solutions. Work independently and follow up on tasks. Interact professionally with clients and attorneys. Work as part of a litigation team. Skills: Experience in all phases of litigation from the onset of suit through trial. Preferable experience in toxic tort litigation, although not required. Excellent communication and writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Professional/DC. Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to existing systems. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Strong knowledge of court rules and litigation procedures. In-depth knowledge of legal documents and terminology. Excellent time-management and organizational skills. Strong secretarial skills including typing, proofreading, spelling, grammar, and math. Ability to take the initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done. Experience billing time as a paralegal strongly preferred. Requirements: Paralegal Certificate from an accredited school preferred. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. Two-plus years’ experience as a toxic tort and/or general litigation paralegal or legal assistant preferred.
