Field Service Technician

Position SummaryCustomer-facing technical role responsible for supporting the reliable operation of the company?s industrial X-ray inspection and rework equipment. The role supports the company?s position as the leading supplier of X-ray component counters and the largest provider of rework systems globally. The technician will provide both remote factory support and on-site service, requiring strong technical expertise, customer focus, and travel flexibility.Required Qualifications??Associate?s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.??Experience with PCB manufacturing, PCB rework, or X-ray inspection systems is strongly preferred.??Demonstrated ability to work independently while adhering to established guidelines and procedures.??Strong electrical, electronic, and electromechanical troubleshooting skills.??Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.??Proficiency troubleshooting Microsoft Windows?based PCs.??Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.??High level of customer responsiveness with a commitment to outstanding customer support.??Valid driver?s license with a clean driving record and ability to rent vehicles.??U.S. citizenship and possession of a valid U.S. passport.Key Responsibilities??Travel to customer sites nationwide to install, configure, service, and maintain X-ray inspection and rework systems.??Perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and system setup for newly deployed machines.??Develop application-specific processes to meet unique customer requirements.??Communicate directly with customers to assess needs and translate requirements into effective technical solutions using company products and services.??Provide pre-sale and post-sale technical support across all sales channels, including direct sales, independent distributors, and end customers.??Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and user training as required.??Respond to customer technical inquiries in a timely and professional manner via phone and email.Travel & Work Schedule??Nationwide travel required up to approximately 70%, limited to weekdays only.??Typical travel cadence includes departing Monday, performing on-site service or installation Tuesday?Wednesday, returning Thursday, and home by Friday.??Service and installation assignments typically last one to two days per site.??Travel is expected approximately three out of every four weeks.??The fourth week is primarily spent in the Chelmsford, MA shop providing in-house support, preparation, and maintenance activities.Essential Functions??Perform equipment installations, preventive maintenance, repairs, and customer training at customer facilities.??Conduct X-ray system radiation surveys at customer locations in compliance with applicable safety standards.??Complete detailed field service reports and provide actionable feedback from the field.??Maintain flexibility to respond to short-notice service needs as required.??Support special projects as assigned by the Global Service Manager or General Manager.Physical Requirements??Ability to communicate effectively and exchange information in both team and customer environments.??Ability to operate standard office and industrial equipment on a consistent basis.??Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.??Ability to position oneself to work on and within machinery, including bending, kneeling, reaching, and working underneath equipment.??Ability to remain in stationary positions for extended periods as required.??Ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet customer or operational demands.
