Server Position at Alvarado Street BreweryWe are seeking candidates who have a passion for craft beverages, awesome food, hospitality and the desire to be a part of a team. Reporting to the General Manager this critical position will fulfill and exceed guests' expectations by providing friendly, attentive service to create exceptional dining experiences. This position is located at our Oldtown Salinas location and is an hourly position with hours that will vary based on business needs.Everyday Essential TasksWelcome and greet guestsMake all our guests feel comfortableInform guests of specials and menu changesMake recommendations that genuinely feel our guests will enjoyAnswer questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and servicesTake food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and barDeliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely mannerPerform side work at the start and end of each shift per scheduleMaintain clean service areasMonitor and observe guests dining experienceEnsure guests are satisfied with the food and serviceRespond promptly and courteously to any requestsPrepare final bill, present check to guest, accept payment, process credit card charges or makes change (if applicable)Assist fellow servers as situations ariseAssist bussers with clearing and resetting tablesThank guests for their visit and invite them to returnFill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the manager on dutyOther various tasks as assignedComply with all Company safety and health policies and proceduresSkills & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Must be at least 21 years of ageMust have a basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functionsAt least 1 year server experience in a full-service restaurant preferredPossess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale systemAbility to maintain professional demeanor in stressful situationsExcellent communication skills verbal and listeningA desire to help out where needed and work as part of a teamPassion for providing extraordinary serviceThe ability to thrive in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to work a variety of shiftsMust be upbeat, outgoing and positiveValid Safe Food Handling certification (ServSafe)Physical & Mental RequirementsAble to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periodsAble to maneuver on uneven groundAble to read and follow written English instructionsAble to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, and crawl on occasionAble to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50+ pounds on occasion and 25 pounds regularly using appropriate techniques and toolsAble to safely navigate crowded spacesAble to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floorsAble to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards.PerksComplimentary beer with in-house and take home privileges.Discounts on food and beverage at our Salinas, Carmel and Monterey locations.About Alvarado Street BreweryAlvarado Street Brewery was founded by father-son duo John and J.C. Hill in March of 2014. What started as a neighborhood brewery restaurant in Downtown Monterey has evolved into three locations dedicated to serving Monterey county's locals and visitors alike. Our production brewery & tasting room opened in the Spreckels Junction area of Salinas in 2016. In early 2018 we opened our R&D pilot brewery and bistro in Carmel-by-the-Sea, known as the "Stro." Our newest addition to the ASB family is Alvarado Street Brewery and Taproom located in Oldtown Salinas which opened the fall of 2022.We are committed first and foremost to the community we serve.
