Let’s find out.OVERALL ROLE DESCRIPTIONThe Part-Time Freelance Controller is the financial backbone of SOCIALDEVIANT. This role is key to keeping the agency’s financial operations on track month over month - from monthly close and reporting to budgeting, contractor tracking, and cash flow management - ensuring leadership has the clarity needed to make sharp decisions. The Controller works closely with agency leadership and reports directly to the Head of Operations.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESProcessing and reconciling of bank account, credit cards, payment gateways, and loan accountsBuilding and maintaining monthly cash flow forecasts, flagging risks and opportunities to leadershipManaging accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely processing and collectionsEntering bills and invoices manuallyOverseeing client billing and revenue recognition in alignment with project scopes and agency retainersDelivering monthly variance analysis against budget to actualsServing as the primary liaison with external accountants, auditors, and tax preparersOverseeing payroll processing in coordination with Ops, ensuring accuracy and complianceMaintaining and improve financial systems, workflows, and internal controlsProviding ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support leadership decisions on staffing, pricing, and growthEnsuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax obligationsREQUIREMENTS7+ years of accounting or finance experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior financial roleAvailable for approximately 20 hours per weekAgency, professional services, or creative industry experience strongly preferredCPA designation preferred; MBA a plusDeep proficiency in QuickBooks Online and ExcelExperience with project-based billing, retainer models, and revenue recognitionFamiliarity with payroll platforms (e.g., TriNet)Ability to work independently and manage priorities across a part-time engagementStrong analytical skills with a bias for clean, actionable reportingExcellent communication skills—you can translate numbers into narrative for non-finance stakeholdersAbove all, kindness, composure, and relentless curiosity
