Safety Manager - HPDUPosition Overview: As our HPDU Safety Manager, you will report to the Sr. Manager of Safety and will be responsible for overseeing and implementing radiological and industrial safety programs and policies to ensure a safe work environment at the NOG-J site for HPDU pre-production and production activities. This role involves assessing workplace hazards, conducting safety training, and monitoring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. The role will integrate within an existing safety program to work closely with facility staff, management, and external agencies to promote a culture of safety and health.Location: Jonesborough, TennesseeYour Day to Day as a HPDU Safety Manager at BWXT NOGJ:Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practicesRisk Assessment and Compliance: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policiesTraining and Education: Design and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote awareness of safety practices and protocolsIncident Investigation: Lead investigations of workplace safety incidents and near misses, documenting findings and developing corrective action plansEmergency Preparedness: Participate in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, ensuring that all facility personnel are familiar with protocolsData Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, and training activitiesCompliance with Regulations: Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and industry standards, ensuring that the facility remains compliantCollaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety practices into daily operationsRequired Qualifications:Requires a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related science or engineering field; a master's degree is a plusRequires 5+ years of experience in safety management, preferably in a chemical processing facilityRequires extensive knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, EPA)Requires experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Programs (RMP) (related to OSHA and EPA requirements)Requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutionsRequires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levelsRelevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are preferredMust be able to work effectively in a team environment and effectively interface with all levels of personnel internal and external to the CompanyRequires proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office SuiteMust be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearanceRequires US Citizenship with no dual citizenshipWhat We Offer:Competitive salary and benefits package, including health, dental, and retirement plansFlexible work schedules and paid time off to promote a healthy work-life balanceProfessional development opportunities, including mentorship programs and sponsorship for continuing educationAn inclusive atmosphere that celebrates new perspectives and supports collaboration between different generationsThe chance to be part of a mission-driven organization making a positive impact on the future of energyOpportunities for continuous learning and training to grow throughout your career!Pay: $$98,000.00 - $$154,000.00
