Assistant Port Engineer

Assistant Port Engineer Preferred Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or a related field; or a combination of post-high school and equal experience may be substituted for education EXPERIENCE 2 or more years experience sailing as a USCG Licensed Engineer on commercial vessels and an understanding of engine room operations. TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment Ability to prepare clear and concise documents, including, but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences and other written materials Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time Responsibilities SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the coordination and overseeing the maintenance, repair and safe operations of all the engineering needs for assigned vessels and equipment Assistant Port Engineer tasking in MPF shipyard periods which are scheduled in the mid to late 2022 time frame Assist with the development of budgets and schedules, contractor selection, quality assurance and contract management while continually interfacing with regulatory agencies, design groups and shipyards Prepare, develop and evaluate specifications and bid packages Monitor repairs or new construction actions when carrying out repair activity Make sure all applicable regulatory documentation for vessels are kept current and periodic inspections are accomplished Ensure in-house and third party inspections, repairs, maintenance and record keeping is performed on a regular basis Assist management with system designs of both new construction and modifications of existing vessels Manage the company ISO policy, vessel operating manual, as well as ensure the Class Society rules are within guidelines Job Type: Full-time Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year Benefits: Health insurance Paid time off Relocation assistance Work Location: In person
