Salary Range Starting at: $10.00/ per hour
Job Overview:
As the Lead Store Clerk, you will assist the Store Manager with front-end operations of The Salvation Army Family Store. You will report directly to the thrift store manager. You will also be responsible for the store manager's responsibilities while the store manager is away. Primarily, this includes attending to customer needs, stocking shelves, rotating store merchandise, and keeping a clean and professional atmosphere that attracts customers and increases sales, in order to ensure the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
Run the cash register, greet customers, inform them of daily sales, and maintain good customer service
Assist customers with donations when other employees are not available to do so
Work with store manager to implement the rotation of store product
Maintain store displays and weekly sales boards as needed
Work with store manager to fill out appropriate paperwork and make nightly deposits on a daily basis
Train store employees on how to fill out paperwork and run the cash register
Assist in maintenance and janitorial duties as needed
Maintain clear and open communication with staff
Other tasks as assigned by leadership
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma preferred but not required. Store experience preferred.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: Cash handling experience preferred
Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
Must be able to relate the public in a friendly and caring manner
This person should possess the quality of character that will allow them to work harmoniously within a Christian organization
Supervisory Responsibility: Must be willing to work independently while reporting to a supervisor (Store Manager). Must be willing to supervise employees in the Store Manager's absence.

Physical Requirements Include:
Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds

May require standing for extended periods
Travel: No travel required
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a (office, warehouse, medical facility, church) environment; may require some weekend and evening work
