Responsibilities for Claims Examiner include but are not limited to: Manage and adjudicate complex workers' compensation claims from investigation to resolution. Set and manage reserves, ensuring accuracy and timely adjustments throughout the claim lifecycle. Handle litigation processes, including coordination with attorneys and ensuring cost-effective claim outcomes. Negotiate and settle claims within designated authority limits. Identify and manage recoveries, including subrogation, Second Injury Fund, Medicare/Social Security offsets, and excess carrier reporting. Candidates for Claims Examiner must meet the following requirements to be considered: Minimum 3+ years' experience in workers' compensation claims (public entity experience required). SIP certification is mandatory. Experience with public entities, especially County of Los Angeles, is a strong plus. Strong knowledge of WC laws, claim duration, medical management practices, and cost-containment techniques. Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
