Assistant Pre-Construction Manager - Utility Scale Renewables - AustinThe Assistant Pre-Construction Manager supports renewable energy projects from early opportunity through construction kick-off. Acting as a junior project manager during the pursuit phase, this role coordinates cross-functional teams to develop competitive proposals and executable delivery strategies, ensuring a smooth transition to construction.This position works closely with Business Development, Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, Contracts, Legal, Risk, Tax, and Construction teams to manage proposal development and standardize pre-construction processes.Key ResponsibilitiesProject & Proposal CoordinationSupport project lifecycle from RFP through construction startCoordinate inputs across engineering, estimating, procurement, legal, and operations teamsAssist with proposal pricing, schedules, and technical deliverablesPrepare construction schedules, cash flow projections, and bid documentationTrack deliverables, risks, and stakeholder inputs to maintain alignmentSupport value engineering and maintain assumptions, clarifications, and exceptions (ACE)Design & Technical CoordinationMonitor design development and identify impacts to cost, schedule, and constructabilityReview drawings, specifications, and contract documents for accuracy and complianceCoordinate design reviews and technical feedbackSupport early-stage services (geotechnical, survey, utilities) and logistics planningAssist in developing conceptual construction plans and schedulesProject Controls & DocumentationMaintain organized project records, logs, and meeting documentationManage documentation in Procore and SharePointTrack decisions and design changes throughout the project lifecycleSupport preparation of handoff documentation to construction teamsContracts & Commercial SupportAssist with contract exhibits, scopes of work, and supporting documentsSupport contract negotiations and closeout with legal and contracts teamsHandoff & Stakeholder CoordinationSupport project handoff and construction kick-off activitiesMaintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and consultantsHelp align project expectations with delivery strategiesProcess Improvement & SafetyFollow stage-gate and project delivery processesSupport workflow standardization and continuous improvement initiativesPromote a safety-first, quality-driven cultureQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field2+ years of experience in construction, engineering, or renewable energyProject management training preferredAbility to travel (5–15%) and valid driver’s license requiredTechnical SkillsUnderstanding of renewable energy construction (civil, structural, electrical)Familiarity with drawings, specifications, and contract documentsBasic knowledge of scheduling (Primavera P6 preferred)Experience with Procore, SharePoint, and Microsoft OfficeGIS/Google Earth experience preferred; SCADA/commissioning exposure a plusCore CompetenciesStrong organization and time managementAbility to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environmentsEffective cross-functional communicationProblem-solving and attention to detailProfessional stakeholder managementIf this role is of interest please reach out to Simon Howard (showard@leap29.com).
